Most gun owners have never hunted. Most gun owners own multiple guns. The overwhelming number of guns in this country are not for hunting. https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2017/06/22/the-demographics-of-gun-ownership/
I see T.R. covered the "and your point is.....?" in post #182. As my dad used to say "what's that got to do with the price of corn?" If entire neighborhoods (in some cases entire town) are chock-full of gun owners and there hasn't been a gun homicide in many years, I'm not quite feeling the crisis.
Opinion: New gun control laws are a form of institutional racism. Here's why. (msn.com) Just some sections of the article to ponder: When elected officials pass more and increasingly extreme gun laws, all with harsh and lasting penalties, the results show that it’s people of color, especially Black men, who suffer the effects and are disproportionately incarcerated because of it. In 2017, a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine titled “Firearm Laws and Firearm Homicides: A Systematic Review” showed that “assault weapon” bans had no significant effect on firearm homicides. And while it is important to keep firearms out of the hands of convicted felons, we have seen that adding universal background checks to existing federal background checks does not decrease crime. A 2019 study published in Annals of Epidemiology concluded that the implementation of universal background checks in California made no difference in firearm suicide or homicide rates. Bans on semi-automatic rifles (so-called “assault weapon bans”) have not decreased violent crime — mostly because rifles of any kind are used in fewer than 400 homicides nationwide annually. It would be better to convict career criminals who harm others, but please don’t criminalize the normal behavior of law-abiding gun owners.
Not an article. An opinion piece by the head of a gun owner PAC. I'm sorry OF for calling you an idiot. Even idiots try.
So, you're saying black people are human and have the same capacity for remarking on issues of which they are just as woefully uninformed as white people?
I don't think OF is saying that. I think he's saying that increased gun control disproportionately affects black people in a negative way. Here is the human making the statements: His opinion piece conflates gun control laws with felonies committed while armed. It attempts to correlate this in CA (increased controls didn't reduce crime), but every gang banger knows to travel to another state (NV is convenient) to make their purchase. But they do have nice xmas gifts suggestions.
Now OF's picture of the Black Guns Matter guy has nothing to do with the opinion piece. For more on BGM here's an article from businessinsider. I'd agree, BGM is just as fucked up as any white 2nd support group. Plus he's libertarian, quit the NRA, and ending his friendship with the Trumps. source
IOWs, the author of the article (my bad, I assumed the pic in OFs post was the author of the article), is misinformed.
