There’s a follow up to that one that goes something like Me pulls out a gun Them: What are you doing? Me: Hang, on I want to test something.
Point of order: The Illuminati were, in fact, real and served as unofficial anbassadors for rationalism. Mostly academics and harmless, they were effectively the anti masons, although they tended to poach members.
I prefer to focus on the positive. The same person you see as ... lazy and doing no good; I see them ... not neglecting their children, or taking ten minutes to de-stress. I don't think people are inherently evil.
Neither are they inherently motivated to get up off their dead asses to accomplish anything worthwhile.
From your descriptions, you appear to live in a dystopian nightmare. Local conditions can, and do, vary. Mind you, if everyone in your neighbourhood who "has" treats the "has not" with the attitude you do, I'm not surprised the poor fuckers need to get drunk or high.
I was thinking yesterday about how the Autobot/Deception war seems to drag on forever because the G1 Autobots and Optimus Prime especially don't seem to be programmed to actually try to win, just to push back against the worst things the Decepticons attempt. Even when they've got the advantage, they just maintain the status quo. They weren't built for war, they don't understand the actual stakes. Prime never thinks "Megatron's really dangerous, I should try to stop him once and for all" until he massacres most of the original gang in the 86 movie, and even then he hesitates when he's got the kill shot lined up. Almost immediately I realized I was also describing the Democrats.
That makes really good sense. It benefits the system to keep things from going too far in one direction, but balance doesn't necessarily mean good outcomes, just nothing too severe. So the GOP is just nasty and evil (they are), and the Dems seem more incompetent because they do *just enough* to keep everyone from dying, but not so much that people can get ahead policywise.
You're funny. "Covid-19 made in a lab", grade 4 on your chart, "dangerous to yourself and others". https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-01529-3 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-57268111 I guess nature.com and BBC now qualify as fake news after the latest pivot!
