Well, considering people who think it's ok to think like an asshole, eventually act like an asshole, then discouraging people from thinking like assholes averts future assholish behavior. That is why what you call "thought police" attempts to curb that behavior and says "don't do this."

It is not your place to interfere with something that is causing no material harm or infringement of rights. You are free to choose not to associate with them.

Interfere? Should I not teach my child to behave? Just let him scream and cry and disrupt everyone else in the grocery store? It's the same thing. These adults were never properly parented. So, as a society, it is our job to fill in the gaps where their parents failed.

Random strangers are not your child. Their activities do not require your approval.

    You don't follow, you mean.

If there's no distinction between the individual and society, then either you are personally meting out justice to those who cross you like Batman or you don't believe punishing folk for their actions is warranted.

Of course, in the real world, society deems some actions wrong because the freedom of an individual to steal, kill or cheat IS detrimental to society.

It also does not allow individuals to take justice into their own hands, because then we'd have chaos.

No, but their interference in my day to day activities - or the day to day activities of other individuals do require intervention. Letting them know up front that those activities will not be acceptable is not interfering. It's just information for their benefit.

The distinction is imaginary in that the rights of society cannot override that of the individual, because society is just a group of individuals. This rules out all the hypothetical stupidity you propose.

It's not up to you to decide what is acceptable for others to do if there isn't at least some potential to harm you or infringevon your rights. Offending or annoying you isn't sufficient.

But, those others have spoke up and said it isn't acceptable - Colin Kaepernick. The BLM movement. Native Americans protesting oil pipelines. Many, many minority groups have come forward and said "this" is happening. And all that is met with is assholes spouting propaganda that minorities are anti-American for not sitting back and accepting their place. So, yes, white people, such as myself, who can do something, DO do something. We speak out. We say that shit is wrong. And now you want to tell me that that shit isn't happening. Don't kneel at a football game. Don't protest by getting in UA's way on the freeway. Don't do anything. But, only the minorities can do something. But, no they shouldn't do something.

What the fuck is anyone supposed to do?

I suspect that @14thDoctor and I could find a lot of common ground and would probably get along well in real life, WAB, maybe, but he’s gone full grumpy old man mode.

I initially attributed @Federal Farmer and @Uncle Albert's misunderstanding of CRT to ignorance. But then they still refused to learn anything about the topic, despite it being explained multiple times by multiple posters here.

But I think it's becoming clearer :sarek: why they are so adamantly :sarek: opposed to this topic :sarek: such that they are intentionally mischaracterizing :sarek: or outright gaslighting. :sarek:

There is a difference between expressing a viewpoint and interfering with your activities.

Everyone enjoys the right of free speech, and you may only counter it with your own. Like it or lump it.

Great. Talk all you want. Just understand that the people you dislike have the same right.

Citation needed. ME, claiming something demonstrably true isn't happening.

I don't give a tiny little bit of a fuck about that.

That's a safety issue. Protest at the side of the road if you must. Otherwise I might slip and fall hosing all the guts and eyeballs off of my bumper.

"Anything," or physically interfere with people? Huge difference there.

Act on their right of speech and protest without interfering with anyone else's rights, let alone initiating physical contact.

Great, now do what everyone else has utterly failed to do and GIVE ME ONE FUCKING EXAMPLE OF EXPLICITLY BANNING SEGREGATION AND SLAVERY BEING TAUGHT IN SCHOOLS. It's not happening. It's two sides lobbing vague bullshit at each other because they both know if they committed to specifics they wouldn't be able to tapdance around it anymore.

Random find on the internet. If this is accurate, there is more than enough to disqualify it from a compulsory educational setting.

Since this entire discussion is built around gray areas instead of black and white issues, I doubt there is anything anyone can put on the table that will persuade to give up a position you are so invested in. :clyde:
