Trump didn't pack the court. Packing the court means to expand it (increase the number of Justices) so that vacancies can be filled with judges amenable to some political agenda.
Regardless, do you agree with his decisions? Are you happy with what your vote and support of trump has wrought?
Nice dodge, and I don’t particularly disagree with the concurrence, but still completely ignores how shitty and illogical the main opinion is.
Look, it comes down to Congress doing their job instead of allowing the Executive to do things via fiat. I welcome a Supreme court that's willing to allow federalism to work by allowing the states to do their thing. It's a tenth amendment solution.
The dream of 50 little fiefdoms failed at the Civil War. But, if America goes full Fash, I hope New England secedes. Bye, assholes. See how the red states do without their welfare checks from the coastal states.
As for the opinion, I think it's a good one. Even if you think mandates are a good idea (I don't), you can't use any old lever of power to institute them. We have a law-making body called Congress; if they can't create a mandate through the law, then there is no public will for a mandate.
Don't drag Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio into this. We will be our own sovereign nation.
Here's the problem. Like Master Data, Laws should not be added to or updated willy nilly. Congress holds too much power in that regard. This is why we have departments like OSHA to make ever changing decisions regarding public health.
So, wide-ranging political and economic policy should be taken out of the hands of our elected representatives and vested in bureaucracies wholly directed by the President?
Public health is not about popular opinion, nor should it fall upon politicians who know nothing of medicine.
Personally, I hope OSHA gets the Voltron blazing sword. But they never use it, they hang it on a wall just to make righties go "what do they need THAT for??? ". And I'll go "shhhhhh ".
How are the people who head bureaucracies--political appointments--not also politicians? And are you seriously arguing we need power placed in unelected bureaucracies because our democratic institutions cannot be trusted to make the correct decisions?
At the risk of self-Godwinning: we cannot trust the politicians in the Reichstag to govern; the Fuehrer will make the big decisions.
I'm suggesting, strange as it may seem to someone so vested in a political party, that ALL people, regardless of political affiliation must be under the protection/influence of their government. That an entity should be beholden to ALL the people, not a specific political party.
Ohhh!! That's why conservatives hated "The Silent Spring". I thought you guys just got rock hard at the idea of people having rat turds on their hamburgers. It's that "we don't like government to do literally anything" thing. Okay. I see.
Um, yeah, they're made up of doctors, and led by a doctor. Or has Joe Rogan told you you're qualified to play around in your own guts with scissors if you have a tummy ache? Or was it Stossell? Yeah, it sounds more like a Stossell thing.
You think you're making an argument, but you are being moronically, abysmally stupid. A pandemic is a matter of medical science and has nothing to do with politics. Medical professionals have stated, the best way to to keep the population safe from the pandemic is masks and vaccines. That you and other idiots flap your assholes with nonsense does nothing to protect the health of the population.
I don't have much problem with an agency instituted to assure food safety keeping rat droppings out of hamburger. That seems well within their purview. But using an agency intended to ensure safe workplaces to coerce people into vaccinations is beyond the pale. People who go to that workplace have the option to protect themselves through vaccination or not. If you're vaccinated, how is your workplace made unsafe by an unvaccinated person? If you're not, you've assumed the risk.
Technically, I'm critiquing the basis for your argument. And your peevishness indicates I'm on the right track. What color is the sky on your planet? And you've been so advised, so act accordingly. The health of the the population that is already largely vaccinated? Or are the vaccinations not effective? And if they're not, why would you mandate them?
