I think you are still missing the reality of this. This is the Alien and Sedition act.

This law applies to people talking about the Russian military in any negative way.

You give a speech to a crowd that the Russian military shouldn't be in Ukraine, jail. That they are doing poorly in Ukraine, jail. That western sanctions are justified, jail.

You go online and do so, jail.

Even if you are telling the truth - ESPECIALLY if you are telling the truth.

This is not at all the same thing as a person with security clearance we trusted with security information and release it to the world you face jail time.

It is several orders of magnitude broader in scope.

Oh, I realise that very much.

As I said, degree not type. At least two of the players I mentioned were acting according to their consciences, making unpalatable truths known.

That they were entrusted with secrets to mind does not offset the fact those secrets were being held to avoid embarrassment around the conduct of a war.

The Rusian example is much wider in scope and more invasive, but not entirely dissimilar.

Look up the deal between Russia and KY for a Russian aluminum foundry to be built in KY and you’ll have your answer.

Aren't those the things that they released very impressive videos of being fired during their recent exercises? How many of them are they likely to have?

These are anti-aircraft systems. You likely saw Rocket Artillery which Russia has in spades* and are quite impressive.

*Compared to the US and other Western militaries the Russians have about twice the artillery per combined arms unit.

So you don't understand there is a difference in type between general freedom of speech among the populace and people who signed oaths to keep classified materials in confidence?

    Wow. OK.

No, I just hold that there are higher ethical imperatives than those oaths.

Maintaining that oath where it is properly applied for national security is a long stretch from allowing it to be abused as a means to cover wrong doing.

In both cases I see people speaking out against the crimes of their country.

There will be a temptation among some of the more immature males on this board to make a joke about menstruating women at this point.

I would like to state that such childishness will not be tolerated.

    Period.

Some reports of Russian armoured units firing on each other.... friendly fire incident, deliberate attack by those wanting peace vs hardliners, or just a case of Ukraine-captured vehicles being deployed against the Russians without a repaint that would allow a casual observer to tell?

Much (most?) of Ukraine's military is equipped with Russian-designed weaponry. Everything from rifles to fighter jets. Easy to mistake friend for foe when they're riding around in the same tanks and IFVs.

Especially at night, when IR/thermal imaging comes into play.
