Who defines "in a manner that is not age appropriate or developmentally appropriate"? Nobody's getting out the rubber body parts, and going "here's how buttsecks works kiddies!! ". That's not a thing that's happening. Hence this law isn't needed. You would think. Now, yeah, it says "in accordance with state standards" but all you need is a Republican in the right place to set the state standard to "saying gays exist" and there you go.
Again, the Republicans overplayed their hand with an initial version of the bill that wanted to out kids. So it got the moniker Don’t Say Gay. Oh well, too bad if the name stuck.
Just stop asking kids who they're fantasizing about and it fixes everything. Why are Republicans so concerned with this?
Because the only way the Republican party can even EXIST anymore is "riling the base". Which is bland-ese for pumping bigots full of fear.
He's talking about "push polls". None of them are reliable because they have built-in biases. But, I don't see any evidence that this was a push poll, other than it has a result that the usual suspects dislike.
You've gone too far, Dicky. We were just calmly and robotically discussing turning gay kids into hamburger, and you had to go and deny the savior. Tch, tch, tch... Bad, Dicky! Bad!
So this sounded fishy to me, went and checked it out: https://factcheck.afp.com/no-canadians-cannot-be-jailed-or-fined-just-using-wrong-gender-pronoun Oh no UA, you fell for your racist uncle's Facebook meme
Ron DeSantis may be picking a fight he'll come to regret... Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday signaled support for stripping Disney of its 55-year-old special status that allows the entertainment company to operate as an independent government around its Orlando-area theme park. It's the latest fallout in the feud between DeSantis, a Republican widely seen as a potential 2024 presidential contender, and Disney, Florida's largest private employer, over a measure that bans schools from teaching young children about sexual orientation or gender identity. After DeSantis signed the bill into law earlier Monday, the Walt Disney Company wrote in a statement that its "goal" was to get the law repealed or defeated in the courts. DeSantis previously said Disney "crossed the line" with that statement. On Thursday, DeSantis went further, suggesting Disney's "special privileges" could be lifted. "Disney has alienated a lot of people now," DeSantis said at a West Palm Beach press conference. "And so the political influence they're used to wielding, I think has dissipated. And so the question is, why would you want to have special privileges in the law at all? And I don't think that that we should." Lawmakers recently concluded their legislative business for the year and would not be able to repeal the act until they meet again next year, unless DeSantis or legislative leaders convene a special session to address it.
Like most christians, you should be the most hopeful your bullshit is not real because you are going to burn for eternity. You make jesus cry.
How incredibly lucky you were to live in a time and place where out of all the thousands of religions and concepts of God the local population largely had the correct one.
I don’t even know what to expect when my little one goes to school. The idea of her getting harassed for having two mommies breaks my heart, but the idea of homeschooling doesn’t seem right for us either. Just trying to encourage her natural resilience as much as possible while she’s young and staying open to the possibility of moving out of the states should the option present itself.
I live in a pretty conservative area. One of James’ friends … actually, two different friends, have two moms. I met one through scouts and am still friends with both moms despite them moving away for better work opportunities. My suggestion is to get your child on some sort of school sponsored extra curricular group and make friends with the other parents. If for no other reason than that in that small bubble, she would be accepted.
This move is leaving a lot of people scratching their heads because it means the property would be governed by Orange County. Which is pretty solidly controlled by Democrats. But, if there is one thing Ron DeSantis and his Republican minions hate above all else it’s local control. So I can see them trying to repeal the special status and bypassing Orange County entirely. Yes it’s stupid, but this is the modern Republican cult party.
Plus, Orange County has a decent-sized African American population, and Republicans love taking self-government away from Black people.
Disney has been moving more of its operations out of California, presumably to get away from intrusive government. Anyone get the irony? What it does point up is that Disney's been trying to stay in the middle of the road when it comes to political hot buttons and it hasn't been working. It brings to mind the old radical's joke that the only things in the middle of the road are yellow stripes and roadkill. It looks to me like Disney and other corporations are going to be forced to take stands on issues (one way or another) that they've previously been able to duck them.
