That's an Independent Fundamental Baptist church (IFB). Totally unrelated to SBC. They have their own brand of kookiness.

    We'll that's just evil.

How are they meant to force them to marry their rapists as God commands if they make them keep it secret?

I know it sounds cruel, but at this point if you are a person with a hole someone can stick their dick in, WTF are you doing around evangelical christians if you do not want it stuck in you? It is like people who brought their kids to michael Jackson or the preacher for that matter. Church official should read as free range rapist at this point. The younger the better. For that matter so should Rabbis and Imams. If there is any group that needs everyone to wear chastity belts around them it is the religious right leaders.

At this point I am really finding it hard to find a fuck to give for someone who has not realized this. Seriously, I am so close to just calling the cops on every white preacher I see around children. I would probably do it if I thought the police would actually do something aside from ask him to bless them.

Not sure this shouldn't really be it's own thread but sure, let's roll:

Houston Chronicle, who's been on this story for three years, and who dropped their paywall for this story:
    https://www.houstonchronicle.com/ne...ge-report-finds-Southern-Baptist-17190816.php

For 20 years, leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention — including a former president now accused of sexual assault — routinely silenced and disparaged sexual abuse survivors, ignored calls for policies to stop predators, and dismissed reforms that they privately said could protect children but might cost the SBC money if abuse victims later sued.

Those are just a few findings of a bombshell, third-party investigation into decades of alleged misconduct by Southern Baptist leaders that was released Sunday, nearly a year after 15,000 SBC church delegates demanded their executive committee turn over confidential documents and communications as part of an independent review of abuse reports that were purportedly mishandled or concealed since 2000.

The historic, nearly 400-page report details how a small, insular and influential group of leaders “singularly focused on avoiding liability for the SBC to the exclusion of other considerations” to prevent abuse. The report was published by Guidepost Solutions, an independent firm that conducted 330 interviews and reviewed two decades of internal SBC files in the seven-month investigation.

“Survivors and others who reported abuse were ignored, disbelieved, or met with the constant refrain that the SBC could take no action due to its (structure) — even if it meant that convicted molesters continued in ministry with no notice or warning to their current church or congregation,” Guidepost’s report concluded.
    ------------------------------------
Russel Moore, drummed out of the SBC for not bending the knee to Trump, who despite his other theological bigotries has been right about this all along, strips the hide off of his former peers writing for Christianity Today:

The true horror of all of this is not just what has been done, but also how it happened. Two extraordinarily powerful affirmations of everyday Southern Baptists—biblical fidelity and cooperative mission—were used against them.

Those outside the SBC world cannot imagine the power of the mythology of the Café Du Monde—the spot in the French Quarter of New Orleans where, over beignets and coffee, two men, Paige Patterson and Paul Pressler, mapped out on a napkin how the convention could restore a commitment to the truth of the Bible and to faithfulness to its confessional documents.

For Southern Baptists of a certain age, this story is the equivalent of the Wittenberg door for Lutherans or Aldersgate Street for Methodists. The convention was saved from liberalism by the courage of these two men who wouldn’t back down, we believed. In fact, I taught this story to my students.

Those two mythical leaders are now disgraced. One was fired after alleged mishandling a rape victim’s report in an institution he led after he was documented making public comments about the physical appearance of teenage girls and his counsel to women physically abused by their husbands. The other is now in civil proceedings about allegations of the rape of young men.

We were told they wanted to conserve the old time religion. What they wanted was to conquer their enemies and to make stained-glass windows honoring themselves—no matter who was hurt along the way.

Who cannot now see the rot in a culture that mobilizes to exile churches that call a woman on staff a “pastor” or that invite a woman to speak from the pulpit on Mother’s Day, but dismisses rape and molestation as “distractions” and efforts to address them as violations of cherished church autonomy? In sectors of today’s SBC, women wearing leggings is a social media crisis; dealing with rape in the church is a distraction.

    Me, on Twitter:

the biggest prime mover in the "values voters" con, who built a massive political machine based on the premise that LGBT were horrific sexual sinners who were a direct threat to your kids and the nations morals ... turns out to be the ACTUAL safe harbor for predators?
Here's a thought: While the SBC is "trying" to get their own house in order and overcome sexual sin in it's ranks, how about they shut ***ALL*** the way up about what they claim to be wrong with LGBT people for, ya know, a couple of generations.

Also? Squire and FF? I blocked both of your asses a long time ago so feel free to rage impotently in defense of these bastards if you want. Meanwhile I'ma get some popcorn ready for the incoming flood of lawsuits.

A piece by one of the individuals that called for the review. https://www.christianitytoday.com/c...n-baptist-abuse-apocalypse-russell-moore.html

They were right. I was wrong to call sexual abuse in the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) a crisis. Crisis is too small a word. It is an apocalypse.

Someone asked me a few weeks ago what I expected from the third-party investigation into the handling of sexual abuse by the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee. I said I didn’t expect to be surprised at all. How could I be? I lived through years with that entity. I was the one who called for such an investigation in the first place.

    And yet, as I read
the report, I found that I could not swipe the screen to the next page because my hands were shaking with rage. That’s because, as dark a view as I had of the SBC Executive Committee, the investigation uncovers a reality far more evil and systemic than I imagined it could be.

Particularly interesting is how the Southern Baptist leadership and it's cult like devotion is at the core of the problem - both of the individuals who are responsible for the movement to take the SBC back to it's consservative roots (read: hate black people) are kiddy diddlers.

Does anyone know if the DOJ is investigating Southern Baptists for sexual abuse? I haven’t seen anything on that story.

    That's a gasser!

Seriously though, if Garland's involved, he's going to be silent until the trap springs. And it'll take time before he brings the hammer down.
    Or the gas on Teddy.
