Hamlin’s at the hospital and the Bills players have started packing their gear to leave. No official word on if the game’s been canceled.

    It has been.

I was watching and the play he was involved in didn't appear that bad. He made the tackle, stood up, then went collapsed.

The last medical condition I saw was that he had a pulse but wasn't able to breathe on his own, which explains the CPR on the field. He's at the hospital now. :(

    Of course.

A colleague posted that he'd been contacted by two doctors and while it's speculative, this could explain what happened.

The kid has a holiday toy drive for needy kids in his home town with a goal of $2500.

As of a few minutes ago it's at $1.2 million.

MSNBC anchors are talking about whether it's time to work on making football safer.

Which means we're in for a roiling brew of toxic masculinity (real men bodyslam each other! Only vegan hybrid-driving beta males want sports to be safe! Hurr!) and racism (Black men must give themselves concussions for my amusement!) in the Facebook meme-iverse.

Repeat wife beaters are proof that violent catharsis doesn't work, and football watching wife beaters are proof that vicarious violent catharsis doesn't work.

The play Hamlin was involved in was pretty tame compared to some. Just a typical tackle, not really that violent. It seems this was more of a freak accident than anything else, though I'm sure we'll find out more in the coming days.

It may have happened the play before, where a pulling TE put him into the ground.

    Hope for his speedy recovery.

Stop that. "Never works" and "doesn't aways work" are not interchangeable.

    As in, lacking the D.

Try again, guy whose post was literally "suck my dick" and then decided "it's too small" wasn't fucking erudite enough as a comeback.

I'd say "try harder", but that's not adding much.

It's a pity the US doesn't decide en masse "ya know - let's take all this armor off and play Rugby with the rest of the world". You'd be unstoppable with those mutants you call NFL players.

And, it's a game you could play with the rest of the world. Also, it doesn't stop every 5 seconds.
