That would be how the old school voltron villains were. Of course the heroes were not much better when they spanked the princess for piloting the blue lion and saving their worthless asses. They spanked her for finding the black lion key and saving their asses.

I used to think that fucking show was awesome when I was a kid, and maybe some of that was cut out in the american version, but princess Alura saved their fucking asses with her mice, and those assholes treated her like shit. Fuck you sven you deserved to be captured and tortured because the princess owned your worthless ass. Pidge and keith better shut the fuck up too. Fat boy and larry should do some work too. (I know his name was not larry, but he looks like a fucking larry.)

Yes, exactly, all of them. That’s how it’s been for decades, except that for the last several years the operative contracts didn’t include direct streaming in the list of things they get paid for because it didn’t exist when they were written.

This is the fail of capitalism that UA and libertarians pretend does not exist. Corporations will pay as little as possible and maximize profits. If they could get away with selling body parts and soylent green they would do it. They have no heart and sole, and there will always be consumers. Eat all the people you want, we will make more. In the mathmatics of it the human race could not cannibalize itself out of existence. At a certain point you would reach a stability. Business would move towards that if allowed.

This is where we are with streaming. It is a new system of cash flow that businesses took all the profit on. Nopw the workers have to fight for proper pay because no one is pro-active with capitalist regulations. 99.9999 percent of businesses do not give away money to their creators (except for those who run the company) unless they are forced. UA ignores this fact that the workers are just demanding their fair share for making these businesses what they are. No streaming company gives money away, or if they did they tighten their belts like youtube until their content creators scream and fight back.

if he is getting that much money I am sure he can do it all himself because we know rich people always do everything themselves. Without them creating and doing all the business the business would never exist. It is just stupid great business creators pay all these other poeople out of the goodness of their hearts. They should buck up and do the work they always do and keep their money.

I am sure nothing bad will happen to thgem when the useless workers stop working.

All haggling ever got me was paddle shifters and the sports model for 3000 less than the standard. I learned to regard the paddle shifters as decorative.

Yeah? Well some people don’t. It often gets everyone involved (not you) better results, so fuck the hell off with your personal dislike and whiny entitlement that other people should behave just like you in how they operate economically for labor/employment.

hang on... he despises haggling, but has in the past everyone should negotiate individually?
already know he hates unions/collective bargaining

in this thread he's basically suggested that due to a new format, the distributors but not the creators are due the continued profits from the latter's labour...

    Y'all ever read Viktor Frankl?

The studios want them to come back you fucking moron.

What are they supposed to do just sit and wait in silence for the studios to figure out the compromise all on their own?

Seriously, map out how they are supposed to negotiate a new contract without making their negotiating position known?

Spell it out. Use your words and that mighty brain of yours to actually outline it. Don’t just whine and stomp your feet and declare it ‘bad’ and tell us all again how you ‘don’t like it!!!’

What I would do if I didn't like the terms is fuck off and work somewhere else. If they won't value me without coercion, they aren't worth my time.

They are free to do as they please, and I am free to hope it blows up in everyone's face and kills Hollywood dead. Maybe we come out on the other side with a better entertainment industry.

Ah, so another demonstration that you have no fucking clue what the fuck you are flapping your gums about.

The studios have their own group, Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). You either work for them or you don’t work.

You starting to get it now big boy?

Is a light starting to shine in that mostly empty cavern you use to hold your hat?

Sure, if you were interested in turning it into a hobby. You could go write or perform for summer stock. But to make an actual living and pay the rent? You either operate under the hollywood system or go find another line of work.

sources seem very varied... it might be accumulated salary and "bonuses"?

in any event, that'd still be over 300 writers with enough left over to give'em all a raise.

I used to think the Captain Planet villains were over the top strawmen, but petty billionaires have gone on to do all the things from that cartoon, and then some.
    Ditto the Toxic Avenger villains.
    You can't strawman conservatives.
