By Fede Alvarez, and straight to Hulu. https://www.darkhorizons.com/fede-alvarez-to-direct-new-alien-film/ To recap the previous 6.... 1. Alien 2. Aliens 3. Alien 3 4. Alien Resurrection 5. Prometheus 6. Alien: Covenant Alien vs Predator are their own cul de sac.
Cailee Spaeny is our Ripley stand-in. https://www.darkhorizons.com/cailee-spaeny-to-lead-new-alien-film/
Speaking of Ripley stand-ins, I'll rank the other two.. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace). Only survived by being plucky, and lucky. She's dumb, she'd be Xeno chow on the Nostromo. She is Xeno chow in Covenant. Daniels (Katherine Waterston) Smarter than Shaw, but still dumb, plucky, and lucky. Until the end. Yeah, Ripley's still the queen. Her predecessors didn't fare well. Unless we count Lex from AVP who became an honorary Predator.
Though awesome, she did not do it alone. She does get honorary predator status which does seem to only be given to black people. Arnie went toe to toe with one and all he got was time to run. There was her and "I am too old for this" guy IIRC., or does old guy from lethal weapon even count as honorary since no one scarred his face?
Working title is "Alien: Romulus". https://www.darkhorizons.com/new-alien-film-targets-february-start/ EDIT: Thread title changed.
I wish we'd get to see what Scott's final vision for the Prometheus/Covenant arc was. Sure seemed like he was planning on tying it to Alien but still had a ways to go to get to LV-426.
I still very much enjoy both films, but they're heavily flawed and never really reached their potential. Sucks that we may not get to see what happened after Covenant.
Isabel Merced is our substitute-Ripley. https://www.darkhorizons.com/isabel-merced-joins-alvarezs-alien-film/
Dore the explorer vs. Aliens? I hope Diego has some fucking better shit in that backpack of his because she is going to need it.
Wait a minute... Which one is the Ripley? Or are they Batman & Robin Ripleys like Sigourney and Winona in Resurrection?
Ah, that's solved. Speany is the Ripley. Source. https://www.darkhorizons.com/new-alien-film-sets-its-main-cast/
Oh!! How did I not recognize her???! She's the little elf-looking chick from "The Craft: Legacy"! The wokiest movie that ever woked! Jesus, she's 5 foot nothing. Why are all the neo-Ripleys teeny elves?
Sigourney says no more Ripley. I mean, deep down, we knew, but she put the final period on the sentence. https://www.darkhorizons.com/sigourney-weaver-is-done-with-ellen-ripley/
Why are they subtitling this new ALIEN flick ROMULUS? Their way of fishing in Trekkies to watch this new ALIEN flick? Then again there is a ROMULUS , MICHIGAN which someone would have to be a huge retarded imbecile to think they named that location in Michigan Romulus to attract Trekkies as new residents. And yes I know Romulus didn't originate with Star Trek. Romulus originated thousands of years ago along with Remus in ancient Rome or pre-Imperial Rome. I'll have to Google search Romulus (& Remus) to get the full story.
Romulus and Remus were nursed by a she-wolf, and then grew up to found the Roman empire. So, they were a couple Mowglis from "Jungle Book" but became rulers. Most people think they were a myth, like King Arthur for Briton. Anyway! Prometheus was about creation. Covenant was about creations turning on the creator. So...Romulus is about...empire? Weyland Utani has grown into the Terran Empire from Trek, and the Xenomorphs are the good guys by comparison? We were kind of already almost there in "Alien Resurrection". Or!! Does a human get raised by Xenomorphs, and he's Xeno-Tarzan? Nah...that's too silly. I'd watch it though.
Romulus fits between Alien & Aliens. Well, there is that 50 year gap to play with. https://www.darkhorizons.com/alien-romulus-set-between-the-films/
