Could industrial water pumps on ships flood the tunnels?

Any civil engineers here to figure out if practical?

The other solution would be fumigation. That might be frowned on though.

I think the biggest problem with that from the IDF's perspective is the presence of hostages in the tunnels.

And of course the pro-terrorist folks would say it's a form of genocide, because it turns out everything is genocide when Israel does it. :bergman:

And yet he parodies you so well.

What does it say that someone with ‘no real creativity’ can fake out half the board with their idiocy framed as coming from you?

Hate Hamas all you want, but you have to help the people of Gaza! That's a whole separate thing! :weep:

    Yeah, about that...

Israeli inspectors earlier this week uncovered several oxygen concentrators meant to aerate the tunnels operated by terror groups in Gaza, two senior Israeli officials tell The Times of Israel.

“These weren’t for use in the hospitals, but below them. That’s why they were smuggled among boxes of cookies,” one of the senior Israeli officials says, adding that the entire truck in which the oxygen concentrators were found was barred from entering Gaza.

Neither official provided a photo of the oxygen concentrators in question and they did not disclose which organization was responsible for sending the truck.

This is why we can't have nice things.

This feels right. If it weren’t an utterly outlandish thing for Netenyahu to do, not to mention doomed due to lack of trust, I’d say he could kill two birds with one stone by helping Al-Fatah retake Gaza and then negotiating with them for the hostages’ release.

Unrelated, a new Harris poll reveals something is deeply wrong with Gen Z, as 48% of 18-24s side more with with Hamas than Israel. Not with Palestinians, with Hamas.

Since the Hamas attack I've seen a lot of people jokingly say things along the lines of "just tell me which side is supposed to be the Galactic Empire and which side the Rebel Alliance so I know who to support," but I also think that's how a lot of people are sincerely choosing to view this conflict. The more powerful side is bad, the underdogs are good, that's how it is on tv and in movies so that's how it must be in real life. And of course America is always bad by default, so whichever side America supports is also bad by default. (Lots of lefties trying that angle with Ukraine too.)

Very much this. It's the socialist point of view - those with the power are always the oppressors, those without are always just in their reaction.

It's quite frankly insane, but I see it over and over and over again. At this point it's just as much part of socialism as the material dialectic - it's an article of faith.

And no doubt one of the significant reasons Rick was having such a difficult time with this issue.

When you see the polls showing Gen Z favoring Hamas over Israel I think you can chalk that up to most thinking the questioner is asking if they like hummus.

But for real, this has exposed the wholly inadequate history education these kids receive. They don’t understand what happened in 2001, let alone 1948. When you show people the terror that Islamists would bring to the whole world they think it’s fake or an inside job. Thanks social media.

    It depends.
Women didn't get the right to vote until suffragettes busted some shit up.
The first pride was a riot.
The Boston Tea Party was terrorism.

History shows fanatics get shit done.
If that creeps you out, stay away from fanatical causes.
Sad to say, most of them are.
And the ones that aren't are usually doomed.
    Usually.

It does depend. That's my entire point. I was criticizing the concept that's so prevalent now that it doesn't depend, it's always merely the power imbalance that shows morality, as opposed to the goals and actions of those involved.

I think it is more of a matter of kids rebelling against their boomer parents who are all so stuck in the pro Isreal propaganda loop that they completely ignore any of Isreal's overwhelming evil acts. This idea that the pro-Isreali side tries to push that if you don't hate all arabs for what Hamas does is a little bit along the bullshit line that caused everyone to side with little Bush and go apeshit on wiping out unrelated countries with trillions of wasted dollars on wars that went nowhere, but were really nice for a pro-Isreal corporate idiot.

I am not saying Hamas is great, but their attacks were inevitable. Isreal is trying to genocide the palestinians. It would be strategically the best for a state that is jewish superior and makes policy based on driving away any local non-jewish people with apartheid based government. Eventually you are left with a large swath of poor uneducated people who are very prejudiced against your superior race. They built the country on racism and opression, and eventually the oppressed rebel and the get super violent towards those who have been super cruel towards them.

If you do not kill the inferior race and slow creep them out of existence, then the inferior race does not just die like good little unwanted pests. This is why you finish genocide quickly like the US and europeans would do during colonization. When you do not do that eventually the other side comes and brutally kills you.

It is not the millenial's fault the boomers want them to completely ignore the problems they created. You shitbags have broken the planet along with your so called greast generation of assholes. Maybe the kids are tired of your reagan and Bush propaganda and think you should STFU and stop supporting the colonizers like they can do no wrong? You guys cause fucking problems with your right wing complicit behavior and toleration of shit policy. But don't tell me about how great the boomers are and why klids should love their propaganda, go tell it to the poison wind you guys have created.
    \
This whiole Isreal/palestine argument is just a distraction from the bigger problem of the storms that are hitting us. Let uis woirry about Isreal because all the boomers think electric cars are socialism. Yeah, socialism bad for boomers. Don't worry, the millenials will probably grow the fuck up and become the boomers they hate so much anyway, just like the woodstock generation embraced archie bunker as their god when they got jobs.

for all the people who are wondering why everyone is so pissed off at Isreal. Isreal uses white phospherous bombs on palestinian civilians for fun, and this might be why they might be a little bit angry. Here is a little video simulating how to treat burns from a white phospherous bomb from a guy who has had burns from them.

If Israel is trying to genocide the Palestinians it’s the worst attempt at genocide in the history of genocides. That venerable organization every educated Brit loves to cite, the UN, has repeatedly warned about population growth in Gaza and the West Bank.

Their underlying premise being that rapid population growth leads to armed conflict. Which completely throws the genocide argument out the window.

Wait 'til "AI" gets it's teeth in, we'll shortly no longer be able to believe anything we see or hear. Holocaust denial will go through the roof in another decade or so.

When it comes to post-truth, turns out Trump was just ahead of the curve.

So your argument is the Isreal is not trying to genocide the palestinians despite a lot of clear statements that they are, and actions that correspond to that because they don't happen to be killing every palestinian right at this moment and because you seem to feel they are not very good at it.

Yeah, they are still trying even if we take your statement that they such at it at full face value. You don't just blow off an attempted murder because the victim happened to be rescued or something intervened.

Yes, the world has always had huge liars and that is something that will continue into the future. We try to properly educate people and we have things like science to verify things. You are not going to stop[ the lies, but you can debunk them. One of the reasons the liars across the globe are freaking out is because we are talking on a global tool that lets you see behind the curtain of the lie.

You might like this article from the Graun.

The quote from Rees says it all:

That article is 15 years old, and it's insane that the crazies have taken over the left. It's like waking up and finding the Trumpeters have taken over the Republicans. Oh, wait.

If only reset buttons were a real thing and not just an overused plot device.

Verification is going to get increasingly difficult, and how do you QCIC the verifiers? The head of BBC Verify was found to have lied upon her CV, so that introduces mistrust right from the off.

The lies are going to be as good as reality soon, and the liars are going to go through a Darwinian winnowing, so they know the best lies are simple and cling to the truth long enough to make verification arduous.

Just as social media drove identity politics into overdrives and hammered wedges into society, so AI is going to undermine our concept of reality.

Dunbar's number is going to be getting some interest in the next decade or so as virtual and real networks shrink out of paranoia.

Yeah no, sorry that is some both sidesing bullshit.

So far ONE Senator and a handful of Reps have called for a ceasefire. Joe Biden is literally hugging Netanyahu. Pro Palestinian protesters are throwing red paint on the White House gates.

Bernie fucking Sanders said on national television you can’t have a ceasefire with a terrorist group.

In what world does that equal the crazies having taken over the leff/Democratic Party?!?!
