    FTFY.

Harry and Meghan both need to get into Mercedes-Benz S280 and flee from the paparazzi at high speed.

Anyway, the MCU has definitely been hit-or-miss since Endgame and its epilogue, Spider-Man Far From Home. There have been a few bright spots, but they need a major reset and I don't think the Kang storyline will get the job done (notwithstanding the fact that Loki is fantastic).

They seem to be following the Phase 1 pattern, which didn't initially bother me, but it has become obvious the current phase required a different pattern.

I suspect they'd have been better putting Loki as the core of the current phase, I mean, I'm glad they didn't as I can't see a couple of Loki movies being as good as the series, but Hiddleston as Loki has a bit more capability to hold the franchise up than any of the other actors. Which isn't a slight on the others, just highlighting he is to Loki as RDJ was to Iron Man in terms of being a character that grabs attention.

There looks to be ignoring of other plots too - Multiverse of Madness pretty much ignoring WandaVision, when if they're really wanting to bring Doom in, that would have been a perfect introduction with the reveal that he'd been controlling Wanda.

I mean, the whole concept of the TVA and a sacred timeline, that's the kind of thing you can see Doom wanting a piece of, replacing Kang and creating a sacred timeline in his own image.

Hopefully they'll sort it out - I'm looking forward to The Marvels, I suspect it won't do great box office, but I really enjoyed Ms Marvel, so be good to see her on the big screen. Plus, maybe they'll do better with Fury in this than they did with Secret Invasion.

    NO SPOILERS

Just saw The Marvels. It's a heck of a lot more fun than it deserves to be. Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel) is an absolute hoot to watch.

However, the professional film critics are right that the tone is all over the place and it can be wildly inconsistent in places. I want to know who thought putting that musical bit in the movie was a good idea (it wasn't).

It's definitely a flawed movie but worth a watch, and sets quite a few things up for Phase 5. Everyone is talking about that post-credits scene -- and I hadn't seen any spoilers so had no idea what was coming -- but honestly the final scene before the credits was better, IMO, and gives some insight into who the new Avengers will be.

I don't typically score films, but if you asked me to rate it out of 10, I'd probably give it a 7 or maybe 7.5 on a good day. If the film didn't have Iman Vellani's nerd energy, I'd probably deduct a point or two.

The Marvels is definitely better than The Flash.

But unfortunately it looks like it's suffering the same fate, as it's getting creamed at the box office.

Marvels got fucked by the actors strike and the almost four full months the stars of the film couldn't promote it. Movie opened the day after the strike ended.

The Secret Invasion stink surely didn't help either. If only it had opened shortly after Miss Marvel ended, to take advantage of that positive buzz.

It's honestly in the MCU's best interest to pretend that Eternals never happened. One of those multiverse branches that was culled by the TVA in Loki.

Increasingly, domestic box office is losing significance for Hollywood. The international markets is where it's at. The Marvels made almost 30% more overseas than it did in the United States on its opening weekend.

Still, a pretty crappy debut for an MCU film but I think @14thDoctor nailed some good reasons for its shite performance. Of the people who actually saw the film, it gets an 85% favourable rating.

In any event, it may be that it will develop an audience over time, or it may just stay a big ol' financial flop.

FWIW, saw it opening day, felt it was a solid mid-tier Marvel movie that seemed to consciously address the notion that Carol is kind of an unfun character by giving her Kamala Khan to play off of. I may see it in theater again.

I don't pay particularly close attention to the He-Man Women-Haters Club Internet personalities, but it doesn't take much to find a lot of vitriol directed at Black Widow. Now for my money, Black Widow is probably one of the worst movies in terms of plotting in the MCU. It's entertaining enough because of Yelena, but almost nothing that the characters do makes sense.

Also, the theory here would be that these adolescent fanboys dislike Captain Marvel and Brie Larson because of their feminist statements/leanings. ScarJo and BW are not overly feminist. Indeed, there's an argument to be made that BW up to her own movie is anti-feminist.

The insufferably smug and vapid Hollywood version of "feminism," anyway.

If you actually saw CM or the Marvels, you would realize that -- like just about all Marvel movies -- both feature good male characters (such as Fury and Talos), good female characters (Maria Rambeau), bad male characters (Yon-Rogg) and bad female characters (Minerva, Dar-Benn). Indeed, it turns out that the Marvels swapped Dar-Benn's gender to go out of their way to have a female bad guy here.

Anyway, thanks for illustrating Stephen King's points.
