There are plenty of things that I genuinely don't care about. As a general rule, I just ignore them. My observation has been that when somebody yells "OH MY GOD, WHO THE HELL CARES?" in response to a discussion, they do in fact care very, very much.
'There are three kinds of people: those that are immovable, those that are movable, and those who move.' world's evolving. get on it or get off /shrug
Here in this case a man claimed to be the prophet of the abrahamic faith and used the bible to impregnate a 16 year old girl who eventually had a bunch of kids. He then forced his own parents to help steal these kids away from the mother and form his own judeo/christian religion with some friend of his where they exchanged their young daughters and married them and had sex with them in a compound with his own parents paying for it. None of these people are drag queens, transgendered, or homosexual. They used religion to do this. They did it pretty fucking well, and none of them even considered sneaking into restrooms or crossdressing as some way to groom and indoctrinate their own children into a really little sex ring. Their own parents excused this behavior because of the old testament of the bible, aka the torah. This is not even terribly uncommon to happ[en with these particular religious works. Yet it is drag queens who are dangerous for children to be around, while men like this convince 4 year old girls to be their wives. Yet it is trans kids who are being mutilated by their parents while men like this think it is perfectly normal to examine little girls to make sure their hymen is in place so that they get a pure one as told to them by old testament law. When have trans people said that you must examine young girl's hymens to make sure they are pure enough to be given to your religious cult leader for sexual pleasure and to take as wives? This shit is not even new or out of the ordinary for religion, but the religious in the cults that believe in the Torah, bible, and koran that encourages grooming child brides, all point the fingers at GLBT people as being the sexual perverts harming the children. Jewish people are the biggest cause of male genital mutilation on this planet. They cut a baby's penis with a sacrificial knife for god in a ceremoney performed with sacramental wine by a man who is not a surgeon or a licensed doctor, and then they complain when a child asks for SRS and insists upon it despite the gatekeepers doing everything they can to try to discourage the child from doing so. These are the same sick religious assholes who argue for war, think slavery is fine, think women are less than men, and think that they are god's beloved special creatures and everyone else is going into a pit after they die if they do not immediately give their money, loyalty, and children to them. But I am horrible for saying to a young child who wants to be the other gender, go right the fuck ahead if it makes you feel better, and alleviates the pain caused to you by saying you were the gender assigned at birth. People like fucking @Demiurge and @Uncle Albert are fucking sick animals. Don't worry, the world is full of them, but you are twisted fucking shits who do nothing but endorse religions that do this, while demonizing some trans girl for swimming. If all the trans girls in the world won trophies instead of cis girls, it would still be less than the grooming and rape of young women by the abrahamic faiths by a longshot. That is how much jews, christians, and muslims groom and assault little kids.
This is the reality of democracy. It is not the great equalizer everyone claims. It is merely the tyrany of the majority and your rights rest in the hands of the prejudiced and complicit. This is supposed to be what SCOTUS is supposed to protect against, but when you have SCOTUS as a partisan interpretation of the law rather than a protector of the rights of people against the majority you cannot have any faith in that system either. You cannot have your judges be mouthpeices and puppets of any group, meanwhile that is exactly the opposite from what we get when you allow the lowest common idiot and his partisan clown car nominate people for the bench with no qualifications and clear crazy prejudice. There can be no neutral interpretation of the rights and the laws when the entire process is partisan in nature. There cannot be any protection for minorities from the tyranny of the majority when the majority dictates who the protectors are.
See what unfettered dictatorship under these bastards gets you. Progress under democracy creeps along like a stream of molasses, but at least it moves at all.
Transgender Candidate Removed From Ballot In Ohio Over Decades Old Name Change Law In Ohio, a transgender candidate has been removed from the ballot after not including her deadname. Ohio continuing to tell Florida it can be just as regressive.
Several Dems in NH broke ranks and joined Republicans in the House to pass a bigot bill. They think having gotten through the house they can jam it through the Senate fast.
Maine used to be the redneck shithole, and NH could lay claim to being more sophisticated. Its kind of swapping places lately.
Agreed. As an aside, I think it's time we took "redneck" back from the racists. It used to be a term for (often socialist) hard working, intelligent, pro-union anti-slavery men and women, white and black, who were labor "agitators" that wore red handkerchiefs around their necks in solidarity, hence the term "redneck." Then the Pabst Blue Ribbon, Jeff Foxworthy generation started using it to mean unsophisticated, inbred, and ignorant, and it stuck. They don't deserve that term.
"If you can recite William Jennings Bryan's 'Cross of Gold' speech from memory...you might be a redneck." This could work.
And here's why you don't trust that motherfucker. "Moderate" Republicans don't exist. Ohio Gov. DeWine signs executive order banning gender transition surgeries for minors Source: https://www.wlwt.com/article/ohio-house-bill-68-transgender-health-care-dewine-veto/46295704
I think the executive order is a bit redundant and the only real problem with it is it passively supports the idea that kids are just going into the hospital and signing up for surgery. That was not a problem, nor anything that would happen under medical guidelines. No kid is calling for an ambulance to take them down to the ER for SRS or HRT, and the ER does not even prescribe hormones, nor give emergency vaginoplasty. I actually know what the ER does if an adult has a episode and goes to the ER desperate to start transition that moment. I know because I did. As a 30+ year old adult the ER staff and doctor calmed me down, gave me info on HRT and transition and recommended a couple of local doctors and explained to me the process. They told me very politely I cannot get prescriptions for long term voluntary medical care at the ER. They are also not going to admit you for emergency SRS either. It is not an emergency procedure. None of this should be done at a hospital emergency room care. As a trans person I will agree a person coming into the ER section of the hospital tgo get emergency plastic surgery or a long term hormone treatment is not in the right frame of mind to make a decision, and the ER does not have the proper medical history involving the patient's body to start tossing hormones at them. The wrong HRT meds can cause damaging potassium build ups and pancreas damage. That is only discovered by continuyous blood testing and monitoring by the doctor prescribing meds, and that is not something the hospital does. However, this obviously promotes the idea that thius law does something to stop a real problem. We need to stop pretending the ignorant insane hissy fits of the toe rogan and Faux news crowd has any basis in fact, and the people who think the ER is cutting dicks in any other way than child genital mutilation for jews and christian cult members needs to be told they are liars and monitored for violent actions. We cannot keep pretending these idiots should ever be involved in other people's medicine.
Meanwhile in fascist Florida... Florida has introduced a bill that would invalidate all drivers licenses issued to trans people. It would require trans people to carry drivers licenses that out them regardless if it is inconsistent with identity documents such as passports, birth certificates, etc. (it is true that a lot of radical bills will never make it to a floor vote but these are an indication of how invested the bigots are in eliminating us from public life) Florida Bill Would Require Mass Biological Sex Affidavits, Ending All Trans Legal Recognition (erininthemorning.com)
First off, it is a draft and hopefully it will be clarified, or challenged if it becomes an executive order. I would imagine some of the problems of wording will get addressed through the legal proceedings. I know, I have little faith that it will be, but that is the process. In order to enshrine a proper procedure that can be protected from the abuses of the right, there needs to be some sort of procedure. I also think that these procedures are something that needs to be in place because we clearly see the right wing licking their lips as they prepare to go molest and pweep on girls by pretending to be one. The do need to work in something to protect people who are currently receiving care due to their requirements, so people do not get pushed off the track. I think in this particular case the governor is trying to thread that needle and I am willing to see how it comes out as long as protections are made for the people in transition to continue their transition. Since this does seem to cover more than just emergency hospital care, I think it needs to be addressed, and I am ok with standards in place for transitioning youth, and adults. As long as the doctors are protected for giving needed treatment under the procedures, then there is a legal path to doing it. We are in the process of enshrining these things into law, so we have to real discussion about how it should proceed. This is especially true with children who are prone to reactive behaviors and outside influences on both sides. If we take a little extra time with a child so we prevent an Edward and an agry inch situation I am fine with that. This isn't the 80's in the medical community like when I grew up. Doctors are so much more informed and educated. Psychiatry, plastic surgery, and hormone administration is so much better that anyone wanting children to be safe should have kids going to real doctors and not the internet for their information. They should have parents going to doctors and not the internet for information. There is so much misinformation out there that we really need these people who are desperate for change getting the proper medical treatments. Watched the show Botched to see how marketing body changing technology has damages people, and trans people are exceptionally prone to body dysmorphia and dangerous procedures when counseling may be a real need. I was one of the people who ran to the ER in desperation having a mental breakdown, and they need guidelines to deal with this because making the wrong decision in a time of desperation causes regrets. If a woman cuts off all her hair because she is emotional it can be traumatic, but it grows back. Maybe I really do not want silicone injected into my body because I want a quick and dirty solution to having women's figure.
The ones this guy thinks he’s preventing, never happen. However, like most things in life, most people do not know about shit they don’t know about. Like the anti-abortion bans, this is going to hurt ordinary people who have real medical conditions.
They’re not. This is obviously a move to try to prevent his veto from being overridden. Unfortunately it seems to be loaded with other prohibitions.
We all know the first law of the universe is if it doesn't happen to @Uncle Albert then it doesn't exist. That is why we know the world is flat, donald trump is president, and the moon is a halucination caused by chemtrails. You would see things that way if you just eat the green meet from FF's subway.
As he alludes to on Twitter, one possibility is that the barriers to ever getting that treatment are so extraordinary that only the most passionately invested manage to see their way through to the result. With the exception of those who are so wealthy that almost nothing is an obstacle to them, every post-op trans person had to have a ton of resilience and perseverance to get through the gates.
