People's mileage will vary, but it is less important to some whether it's part of a shared universe and more important if it's a good movie in its own right. And people seemingly enjoyed the first movie, and it looks like the second movie has almost all the same actors and the same producer.
When I get a chance, I'll see it at the theater to wrap up the DCEU. I started with "Man Of Steel" 10 years ago, I may as well wrap it up.
Have you seen all/most DCEU movies in theater? I didn't see most in theater: I streamed Suicide Squad, WW84, Birds of Prey, The Suicide Squad, Shazam 2, Flash, Blue Beetle. None of them made me wish I saw them on a big screen.
I kept up with them up to Harley Quinn, then covid landed, and my theater chain died, and it took 'til 2022 for someone to buy them back to life. So....I caught them all on disk since then. Except Flash. Flash was special cuz of the Keaton crossover. Again, I wanna see the last one to take it out.
I thought Aquaman 1 was like a mid-tier MCU movie. It seemed to be copying off the paper of Black Panther, but Jason Momoa is no Chad Boseman (though I don't think he's as bad as you apparently do), Ocean Master is a far weaker villain than Killmonger, and Manta is a weaker villain than Klaw, etc. Aquaman 2 seems to be copying off the paper of Thor: The Dark World (hero is forced to team up with his untrustworthy villain brother to confront a massive threat). Not going to pay out of pocket for that.
David Ayer has thrown in the towel on ever getting the Ayer Cut released. https://www.darkhorizons.com/ayers-suicide-squad-hopes-are-over/
Aquaman 2 actually made more than Flash, Shazam 2, and Blue Beetle. So, it at least has the milestone of going out as the highest grossing DC movie of 2023 as well as the last DCEU movie. https://comicbookmovie.com/aquaman/...ecord-for-dc-movies-in-2023-a208666#gs.34znyc
I agree wholeheartedly with @Diacanu that the Joker should NOT be in the sequel(s) to 2022's "THE BATMAN". I think it would be a stupid move. Reeks of "STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS" having Khan be the flick's villain all over again.
Well, we're 50-50 for special cuts. We got Snyder cut of BvS. Snyder cut of JL. No Ayer cut of SS. And now no Wan cut of Aquaman 2. https://comicbookmovie.com/aquaman/...f-the-movie-was-much-better-a208883#gs.3pc2rv
The thing is that Batman has a huge rogue's gallery, and live action has just scratched the surface. We've had multiple Jokers, Penguins, Riddlers, Two-Faces, Catwomen and Banes. I'm sure that we can have a live-action take on someone who hasn't gotten the same level of exposure, like Hush, Hugo Strange, Black Mask, etc.
He's got a jillion generational clones of Duncan in Dune to play for the next 50 years. Duncan is the Weyoun of Dune.
Movie-Supergirl is narrowed down to Milly Alcock and Meg Donnelly. Cailee Spaeny was considered at one point. You've already got "Alien: Romulus", Cailee; stay in your lane!! So, yeah, definitely no more Sasha Calle.
"Superman The Movie" and "Man Of Steel" are canon thanks to the multiverse. The origin is done. Coin flip which one of those you prefer, and you're good.
If you don't know the origin of Superman, Batman or Spider-Man by now then you either have been living on the moon your whole life or you're a new born baby.
I mean, there are no doubt some people who have managed to maintain pop culture ignorance well into their adulthood, or who know the broad outlines of it but not the details. There's also the notion that for some youngsters it will be their first exposure to Superman.
ANYWAY! Back on topic! A rumor from a reliable source says James Gunn is gonna cast reboot-Batman soon. Even though he doesn't pop up in "Superman Legacy" and even though "The Brave And The Bold" is ages away. Well...we knew Dwayne Johnson was Black Adam for damned near a decade.
Oh, and the composer for "The Suicide Squad" and "Guardians 3" is doing the score for "Superman Legacy".
