Hamas chief’s grandniece is receiving life-saving medical care at Israeli hospital: report

Even as Hamas holds 136 Israelis hostage in unspeakable conditions, a close relative of the terrorist group’s leader, Ismail Haniyeh, is receiving life-saving medical care at Beersheva’s Soroka Medical Center.

Haniyeh’s sisters, Israeli citizens, live in the Bedouin town of Tel Sheva in the Negev. His niece gave birth to a premature baby in recent days, who is being treated at Soroka’s neonatal intensive care unit.

“It’s a story that the whole world needs to hear. It’s all the difference between the incomprehensible cruelty of Hamas and the humanity of Israel,” said Channel 13 reporter Almog Boker, who broke the story on Monday.

It isn’t an easy situation for the medical team as they know they’re caring for a family member of Haniyeh, who was one of those responsible for Oct. 7, Boker reported.

However, they also understand that it is their duty to care for him.

Hamas for taking hostages in the first place. And also those who decided to carpet bomb the places that they were being held, while denying them food and water.

Ah yes, the same channel 4 news that's independent analysis of the rocket attack that hit the parking lot at Al Ahli hospital was Israel's fault when the overwhelming analysis of the world's intelligence communities said it was a failed rocket launch attacking Israel. You'd think you'd apply critical thinking once they've been proven to be so biased.

    Gotta move that propaganda needle.

UNRWA of course hasn't just been criticized by the Israeli's, it's also been criticized by the people who have run UNRWA. The Chief of UNRWA once said 'Yes, of course we have Hamas members on our staff.' After stating that publicly twice, he was removed from the position by the UN. Perhaps the foremost critic of UNRWA is their former General Counsel.

UNRWA may exist in the future, but I think most of the governments in the West are done funding it. They'll move to different methods of charity donation. If Hamas continues to exist they'll work to insinuate themselves in those as well, but moving the needle means they have to start the process all over again.

In the meanwhile, the leaders of Hamas and the former PLO sit on billions, that they certainly didn't get through legal channels.

And they certainly won't offer to help their own people. And Hamas will continue to say it isn't their job to feed their people and provide infrastructure, that's the UN's job. Their job is to destroy Israel.

And oh, look, not a single comment from this guy who says:

When the Under Secretary of the UN and Special Envoy for Sexual Violence in Conflict says that she has never seen the like before of the sexual violence conducted by Hamas against Israel, that she has nightmares after seeing the evidence, and that the world needs to apologize to Israel for not believing the atrocities committed against it by Hamas.

No, you just move onto the next bit of propaganda.

Duck and dodge, Ricky, duck and dodge.

Did mass rape happen in Israel during the 10/7 attack, Ricky? Yes or no? Did the needle move at all now that the allegations have been taken seriously, and the UN envoy has said how nightmarish they were, that she had never seen their like?

And maybe, just maybe, you'll think twice before denying horrific allegations like this in the future, without any facts whatsoever?

Because pointing out his factual errors, omissions and exaggerations is a full-time job and it's pointless anyway since he just doubles down. I'm just explaining why I've "moved on" from this.

You're welcome to look it up and fact-check him yourself if you wish. It's a fairly obvious pattern that when he summaries something in his own words rather than providing the direct quote, he's making something up. As here.

I already provided the direct quote. You ignored it. So I pointed that out.

Oh well, we'll just add your 'there was no systemic rape' quote with your 'genocide is only when you are attempting to destroy the entire population of a people' quote.

You provided a direct quote, but you mischaracterised its context yesterday when you did so. Now you're embellishing it further.

And you're misquoting me on genocide once again. You keep bringing this up, and you keep inserting the word 'only' into a sentence that vaguely resembles something I said.

And you keep lying about it. '
The word "genocide" is being thrown around liberally. The accusation is a potent propaganda tool. But there is no such thing happening in Ukraine if the word has any meaning. The crimes against humanity that we know of or attempts at annexation - terrible though they may be - are not equivalent to the physical extermination of the people of Ukraine.

It's right there. Everyone can read it. Not what is happening if the word has any meaning because it is not equivalent to the physical extermination of the people of Ukraine. Pretty explicit, Rick.

Of course, that's not the standard of genocide you use when you use the phrase over and over and over again here. You were right though - it's potent propaganda. But then, that's why you use it.

You can apologize and say, that's not what I meant, I misspoke. But that's not what you do. You lie and say you never said it.

And now you've denied mass rape as a weapon of war, because it's politically inconvenient for you to acknowledge it.

    Here's the direct quote, again:

“I saw things here that I have not seen anywhere in the world. The world outside cannot understand the magnitude of the event. I myself also internalized the magnitude of the event just by being here myself,” said Patten.

“Only when I am here do I understand the magnitude of the pain, the insult and the anger of Israel regarding how the world did not sufficiently understand and treat the atrocities that happened to you,” she added.
    https://www.jns.org/un-envoy-in-israel-world-cant-understand-magnitude-of-oct-7/

Now, is it possible the source is lying? Sure. But we know she's the UN Envoy for Sexual Violence in Conflict, we know she's marginalized these claims before, we know she's been in Israel for a week to specifically investigate these claims of sexual violence being used in warfare by Hamas. Seems pretty credible she spoke on the topic of why she was there in the first place, don't you think?

In other news, US Sec of State Blinken arrived in Israel today to try to negotiate a ceasefire.

Hamas latest proposal is a release of the hostages over 3 phases in exchange for 5 times as many prisoners, including 100 that they personally select. A 45 day cease fire. And a complete withdrawal from Gaza of IDF forces.

This does not seem like an offer that Israel will consider. NY Times also reports they believe nearly 25% of the hostages that the terrorists took are already dead, and not all of them are in the hands of Hamas, so couldn't be released anyway.

The House's $17 billion package of aid to Israel has been tabled, and Biden said he would veto it anyway. Per the GOP's own request they wanted to tie aid to Israel into the Border issue, and funding for Ukraine.

Where can they read the word 'only'? And if they can't, what would you say that you're doing when you repeatedly misquote me as using it?
This is pathological, and it's the same thing you're doing with the UN Envoy. You take what is said and very literally reword it to mean what you wish it stated rather than what it does. And then feign innocence when called out.

And yet, despite genocide not 'only' being the physical extermination of a people, that is exactly the sense that I mean it 'over and over again' here. Extermination is what Israel is doing. Get this - the thing that is not happening in Ukraine is happening in Gaza. Consistency does not mean that I must hold both as genocide or neither. Not a difficult concept.

I haven't claimed the source is lying. I'm claiming that you are lying.

The person being quoted in the article is giving their reaction to the 47 minute super-secret snuff video compiled by the IDF from Hamas bodycam footage that they've been showing to journalists for months. I haven't seen it, but I have read detailed accounts of what it contains. It's horrific. It includes the deaths of children, and it's quite reasonable that someone would describe it as the worst thing they'd ever seen. And that they might have trouble sleeping after watching it.
It even - get this - contains a couple of things that can indirectly be argued to be evidence of sexual violence.
But her statement is a reaction to the atrocity footage in general.

What you've done is to combine the fact that this person is an investigator of sexual violence with her comments about this video and make the assertion that she "says that she has never seen the like before of the sexual violence conducted by Hamas against Israel". That statement is a lie. It appears nowhere in any of her quotes or any of the reportage.

It is also a lie to attribute the statement to her "that the world needs to apologize to Israel for not believing the atrocities committed against it by Hamas." She literally just did not say it, or anything that amounts to it.

This is why I might occasionally feel the need to "move on" from your posts and spend my time more productively.

There won't be any hostages left to save, says a former hostage, pleading for his government to make a deal for their release.

    Link

It's a bizarre feat of Orwellian doublespeak that the government says that military pressure is required to free the hostages, when they reject a deal to do just that. Military pressure and 'total victory' that Netanyahu wants is a death sentence for the hostages, by bombing or starvation. So, it's clear where the priority lies.

They've just introduced a 5 year jail sentence for anyone questioning their narrative about October 7th.

And they're attacking Shifa Hospital again. Which must mean (according to their narrative) that Hamas has reoccupied it. That would be embarrassing. Or maybe they just want to stop hospitals from re-opening. Like they're attacking the aid trucks and the starving people waiting for them.

Remember how pissy you were about the IDF demolishing that university building so that Hamas couldn't re-occupy it? And now you're pissy because Hamas is allegedly re-occupying a building the IDF didn't level. It's almost like there's no pleasing you. :chris:

What, you think the guy who has different rules for genocide depending on the politics of those involved and denies mass rape when it's politically inconvenient (oh, and tell me how that isn't Pro-Hamas), might be acting in bad faith? LOL.

Now? I haven't been asking people for links. I've been saying why I don't engage with blatant lies.
It seems a bit redundant to provide or demand links to things that are so prominent in the public domain.
    But here you go anyway.

My preference is obviously that they don't commit war crimes of any sort. Military expedience is not an excuse. But I'm also pointing to the fact that their claims to have pacified the northern parts of Gaza are not true if Hamas is operating there.

There are some other potentially interesting developments in the last day or so, I thought.
It's routine by now that the US officials pull long faces and try to convey the impression that they're acting as a restraining influence, without much tangible evidence that this is actually the case. So this may just be that. But further to his earlier comments describing bombing as "indiscriminate", Joe Biden has now said that IDF actions are "over the top". And John Kirby has declared that the US "would not support" a full-scale attack on Rafah as things stand, and that with more than a million people there it would be a "disaster".
Will the IDF be ordered to push ahead anyway? What might the US do if they did?

There is a very large buildup of Egyptian military on the Gaza border. Apparently in violation of the 1979 peace treaty.

They should occupy Rafah and dare the IDF to keep attacking.

It's unlikely to end well, in any event.

Er, ok. That's about the least of it.

Want some more? Anyone with the capability of projecting power in the region should be using all means necessary to stop what is happening, by sinking the IDF navy, shooting down their aircraft and destroying their infantry. These murdering cowards need to face some opposition who can fight back.
