Who let the Irish beat the Trojans?

I wanted a chance to say Fuck You to the BCS system by having Oregon get to the title game but not be the Pac-12 champions! :bailey:

Well Bedlam was interesting, Sooners win 51-48 in overtime. All said we look to finish 8-4, and third in the league. I'll take it, considering we were picked by many to finish with a losing record after losing Weeden and Blackmon from last year. We'll have our "three" starting quarterbacks returning next year, and will be picked by some to win the league.

I noticed that Chizik will not be returning. :bergman:

Bad season last year, disastrous season this year, two undefeated seasons and one national title in the last decade v consistent irrelevant mediocrity... Hmmm...

Oh, and were the University of Alabama to win, it would mean that the State of Alabama would tie the current record of 3 National Titles in a row for a state.

Guess who would lose exclusive claim to that record?

Don't care, Tex and I cheer for schools, not states.

You rooting for the Crimson Tide just shows how far the SEC Stockholm Syndrome goes.

Back to this, the idea is to build a stable program, which means in a down year you get 8-9 wins, contending for a title every few years. Instead Auburn got rid of an established coach, and sold their souls to the devil in order to beat Saban, and look where it's got you. Chizik didn't build a program, he bought a superstar. Now what, you think you're going to go find a new coach and be right back in the thick of it? You're competing with Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, NC State, Purdue, Colorado, etc. Somebody is gonna hire Petrino, somebody is gonna hire Gruden. Who are you gonna get to come into your collapsing program, coach under Saban's shadow, with impending probation?

Lessee, the Pokes won the conference last year, had some losses this year, but will be to win the conference next season, which means another year in the Top Ten, contending for all the prizes that go with it. Oh, and all this under the shadow of the empire down in Norman and without any looming sanctions.

Yeah, it was totally a one time deal where we 'sold our soul,' not like we had gone undefeated just a few years before. As to ups and downs being so uncommon I'll chalk that down only knowing how it works in the minors. In the big leagues such swings happen. See Alabama in 03 (4-9).

Yeah, glad we're on the same page there...

Alabama in 03? Saban wasn't even at Bama, who cares? Shouldn't a program two years out of a national title fare a little better than you have? You're making my point. Chizik didn't build a program, he went all in for Cam.

Didn't your athletic director and school president once fly to Louisville because they thought the grass was greener once before? You guys are the big tittied gold digger of college football, always looking for the next mark, thinking that another facelift is gonna make you irrestible. Never addressing the insecurity that comes from being jealous of the girl next door.

Yes, let the hate flow through you. You can't smell the jealousy wafting from your vitrol at all!

And I totally didn't notice your step around of my pointing out how TWICE we have been undefeated in the last 10 years as you try to make the '10 season to be a one time thing.

How many undefeated seasons have your pokes had in that time frame?

Mike Leach at Auburn would run Saban back to the NFL. He's already got sand in his vag over hurry up offenses (i.e. Texas A&M). However, Mike Leach may be more concerned about your scandals than you are about his. All of this is irrelevant, however, since A&M will continue to claim lordship over the state of Alabama for the next several years. :bergman:

I'm not betting directly on the game but it is in the list of games in my ESPN College Pick'em. I think OSU will win. The question is on a 1-10 scale how confident am I that will happen. If you're not familiar with the game it works like this:

There are 10 games to pick per week. Just choose a winner, straight up, no spread or anything. Then there are 10 slots to place the 10 games in based on your confidence in your picks. The 10 slot being worth 10, and the 1 being worth one and everything in between works the same way. So you can get them all right and earn a max of 55 points per week.

Here is what I have currently:

The catch is this is a money league and I'm in 1st place. This is the last week of the season and to lock down first place I need to score 45 points. Since 2nd place won't likely get a 55, I'm pretty safe at anything over 35, which I have only failed to achieve twice this season. I'm pretty much set to win it as long as things don't go too crazy. The picks are all private until the games start so the person in 2nd has no idea what I've selected and is probably going to pick very similar things which helps me maintain that gap. We'll all get one or 2 wrong due to upsets or just really hard to pick games so where you rank each game makes all the difference. The idea is to get potential upsets or very hard to pick games as low on the list as possible to minimize the damage they might do to you.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

Kansas State is coming off their one loss and an off week, they've owned Texas, and this Texas team may be in shambles. I'd be pretty confident of that pick. As for OU/TCU who knows, on paper the Sooners roll but they've come off two tight wins. I could see TCU giving them trouble, unless they have a letdown from beating Texas.

How does the confidence rating fit into the final score?

If you put a game in the 10 slot it's worth 10, 9 slot worth 9 and so on... Add up the points on each game you picked correctly for the total points you've earned per week. Make sense?

A picture is worth a thousand words so here is how I did last week.

Also, next year, I think we should have a WF College Pick'em group. I'd be up for putting $20 to $70 a person in on it as long as we can agree on who we trust to hold the money. The league I'm in now was a $70 buy in with 15 people. FYI, $70 is just $5 per week. Each week's winner gets $50 so it keeps the competition fun even when you're out of the running for the grand prize of all the leftover cash. Despite being in 1st place and having been in 1st for the last 6 weeks overall, I've only managed to win one week outright. With 15 people playing there are always a few that are pretty close to perfect. The week I won I had a perfect week along with 1 other guy. So it came down to the tie breaker score and I was closer by 1 point. It makes the games you don't care about a lot more entertaining.

That's why I have the OU pick way down at #4. The three games below it are much harder to pick IMO. Pitt and SF is a battle of 2 shitty teams, it could go either way depending on which terrible team screws up less so I just picked what the trend % indicated most people were picking. I know how the 2nd place player thinks and I'm confident that is exactly how he'll decide that one too. If I'm wrong, so is he. UCF vs Tulsa... does anyone know how either of these teams play? High School games like this rarely end up in the 10 games ESPN chooses. Because so many seasons ended I guess their choices were limited this week. Alabama vs Georgia could go either way. A game like that is always going to the bottom of the list.

I actually feel pretty good about my 10-6 picks. I agree it's unlikely that Texas will be K State but one thing to watch out for in college football is a team just giving up after having it's heartbroken. Mac Brown is also coaching to keep his job so that could influence Texas. He might be willing to take some chances he wouldn't have in seasons past and if they pay off K State could lose it. TCU probably can't hang with OU but they have the confidence boost coming off the Texas win. I could flip those 2 games and feel pretty much the same.

Auburn University has hired Gus Malzahn to be it's new head football coach.

Malzahn was the offensive coordiator at Auburn for three years
before taking the head coaching job at Arkansas State, in 2012.

Under Malzahn, Arkansas State finished with a 9-3 record,
    and were Sunbelt Conference champions.

I'm against it. Auburn is falling into the same trap Bama fell into after Gene Stallings retired. They wanted to hire from within "the family" and they sucked until they hired outside of the list of Bryant/Stallings underlings and brought in Nick Saban.

You want to be a big Tier 1 program? You're going to have to drop Tier 1 cash on a known quantity. Gus Malzahn isn't a known quantity.
