Office 2010, because some of my clients are still using 2003-2007, and I'm not sure whether 2019 can "translate"; fucking-gdamn-deserves-to-die Adobe, which now charges a monthly fee instead of an upgrade, and which I use maybe twice a year; this lovely macro program called FastFox, which saves me having to type "the" and "through" and "myocardial infarction" 1,000x a day; proprietary software for my new client, etc., etc., etc. And before anyone suggests "You should really buy a Mac," don't get me started!
And depending upon what version of Windows you're running on your machine, you might run into problems with doing just a simple hard drive swap (ie pulling the drive out of your old machine and slapping it into a new one). There's ways around this that are kinda tricky and rather than hijack this thread, I'll just say PM with your questions and we'll see what we can figure out.
No, if you've been using WinDoze for several iterations then trying to switch to a Mac would be a bad idea. I'd advise that if you were starting from scratch, not recovering from a disaster. Do you just have one computer, or do you have a desktop machine in addition to a laptop?
That's the bitch of it, the software used to be as swappable as the hardware, but corporations have...well, basically put what amounts to viruses in their shit to make you pay through the nose for the "premium version". "Legit" software is basically legal ransomware.
