    Sums of the digits: 8 14 17 11 8 7 10 11 17 11 9 6 9

    Sums of the digits: 22 9 13 9 13 7 6 7 17 11 7 12 17 12

Hmmm. Any sums larger than, say, 26? No.

    None larger than 26.

    Largest sum = 27.

Largest sum = 27 (occurs twice).

The three digit blocks map to a key on a QWERTY keyboard. There are 26 letters. That 27 occurs occasionally is intriguing...it may be punctuation.

Actually, there are only 17 letters used so far. Each has been used from 2 to 12 times.

(assuming I haven't made any arithmetic mistakes)

If Batboy has included his name in any message, he's being especially sneaky about it.

And what's with the double letter after the first "punctuation mark" in that last message?

The Chiropetic Crusader has sent word of his mission!

Batboy is off investigating reports that subtraction and division have formed a faction to battle addition and multiplication.

    I hate math...

Ohhh, I bet that the punctuation is

    Edit:
    I believe your second line of sums there should read: 22 9 13 9 13 7 6 7 17 11 7 12 17 11 12 (all those 1's are awfully dizzying, aren't they?)

    Second Edit:

Now that I notice it, the second-last # in the first line should be 7, not 6 :discuss:

Batboy is disappointed by the lack of progress the Wordforge Cryptography Club has made. Batboy will see what Batboy can do to move things along.

First, Batboy suggests that everyone reread Spaceturkey's posts.

Second, Batboy would suggest keeping the Rosetta Stone in mind.

Third, Batboy would suggest that everyone take a good, long, hard look at Mrs. Albert.

Fourth, Batboy would suggest that everyone keep Voyager in mind.

Finally, Batboy suggests that everyone approach this problem like a well-schooled person would approach a multiple choice test.

My thinking as of right now...

Each three digit block has got to have a starting location signified by one of the digits.

Starting at this location, the other digits tell you how many keys on the keyboard to scan in a zig-zag pattern until you're on the right key.

My assumption is that the starting key is one of the numbers on the top row of the keyboard (1,2,3,...0). Each number key has a column of letters (3 letters for 1-7, 2 letters for 8 and 8, and 1 letter for 0) underneath it.

For a while I was assuming it has something to do with the game Snake and that it might therefore relate to the keyboard's number pad with arrows on it (8 = Up, 4 = left etc) but I'm not sure how that would work with the three digits offered...

I'm guessing the "zero is your enemy" comments has to do with division. So I figure you have to do some basic arithmetic to discover the necessary number of keys to move from the origin. Spaceturkey's comment about subtraction-divison-addition-multiplication kind of alludes to this as well.

Also, the first time Batboy mentions Mrs. Albert is after a Talkahuano (sp?) post, and his rep on that post is 14 numbers long. Mrs. Albert hasn't posted in this thread yet, so I'm figuring Batboy is referencing one of her rep comments. And Mrs. Albert's rep on the first post, "paladin is smart" is 14 letters long if you remove the spaces. Not sure if that means anything, but something I noticed and thought I'd share.

For the record, I don't understand the code yet ( and I've tried just about every way from Wednesday :bang: ), I just understand what Recoil might have been driving at with his comment about the 14 stuff.

Batboy must say that Batboy is disappointed in Wordforge. Batboy assumed that someone would have cracked Batboy's New Code by now. Batboy will give everyone one more week to try to find the answer. If noone succeeds, Batboy will post the solution.

In the meantime, Batboy will answer any questions (within reason) to assist people in making a breakthrough. Please post any questions and Batboy will edit Batboy's answers into this post.

Batboy will note that this code is designed to be far more user-friendly for codetalkers than Batboy's original code. Thus, encoding a message is basically a matter of letting one's fingers do the walking...unless that damn zero or zero's buddies get in the way. Batboy's purpose with this code was to test various theories in preparation for the institution of a new permanent Code for Batboy's Resistance Cell. Batboy likes the user friendliness of the encoding process, but Batboy does see one or two hitches in the decoding process that must be worked out.

Batboy will now answer questions as posters ask here:

    1.
No. When Batboy refers to hitches, Batboy means stumbling blocks that make the decoding process inordinately more difficult than the encoding process. For example, in certain situations, a coding will require very basic math. 99 times out of 100, this will be easily spotted by the decoder. Rarely, however, spotting that may be more difficult than the encoder planned. Simply makes the code harder than the code needs to be. A proper functioning code should be easy on both the encoder and the decoder.

    2.
Basic math is necessary in more than one way.

    See post 103.

    3.
A long time ago, Batboy enjoyed watching Star Trek: The Next Generation. Batboy's favorite character was Q.
