    Ok then....

    1.) Was I right is assuming that basic arithmetic played a part in the decryption?

    2.) Was I right about Mrs. Albert?

    So is Batboy going to come and advise? Cause I think everyone has pretty much given up on trying to find a solution.

    Is the order of numbers within each group significant? -- for example, would the message in the thread title be the same if it started with "341" or "134" instead of "314"?

    [action=NAHTMMM]tries a few more patterns, or rather a few patterns yet again, and finally shrugs it off.[/action]

    OK, two more questions:

    Are we supposed to start over at the first key (presumed to be "Q") for each letter, or just keep going around the keyboard?

    And does M connect directly to K, or not? That silly corner is causing me a lot of extra work with some of these patterns :garamet:

    It's a good thing I have no idea where Batboy lives. I think I'd resort to the Jack Bauer method of deciphering the code.

    Okay... Batboy is MIA.

    O teh NOES!!11111111!!!!1

    Pending the return of the nocturnal avenger, I'm gonna try to flush his captors out into the open by revealing the first few words of the message decrypted.

    Tomorrow.

    I'm more and more convinced that the latter is the case. Otherwise the apparent lack of A's seems inexplicable.

    (edit)

    Oh, and . . .

    I'd expect that just the first couple of letters should do nicely, provided you specified WHICH message you're referring to of course . . .

    Then throw it out. Nothing appears at regular intervals in code that isn't put there to draw your attention away from finding a genuine crib.

    It's difficult to work out a sensible circuit that will allow one to stand on a letter when given an 11 to work with. :marathon:

    Ooo, if you add each number on a calculator and then turn the display upside down, it tells you the location of King Solomon's lost gold mines. Nifty. :)

    Yes, we got that. ;) We still don't get how you get from Q to A to F in 8 moves. Or I don't, anyway.

    ...Hmmm. Wait a moment.

    Assuming (as usual) that the numbers add up the way we expect them to . . .

    314 - 536 - 638 - 533 - 422 - 106 - 433 - 434 - 917- 515 - 630 - 124 - 315
    --> 8 - 14 - 17 - 11 - 8 - 7 - 10 - 11 - 17 - 11 - 9 - 7 - 9
    --> F - R - E - E - B - A - T - B - O - Y - R - E - P

    602 – 841 – 316 – 3328 – 825 – 106 – 113 – 824 – 012 – 322 – 105 – 617 – 324 – 314
    --> 8 - 13 - 10 - 16 - 15 - 7 - 5 - 14 - 3 - 7 - 6 - 14 - 9 - 8
    --> F - -1 - -8 - -3 - +7 - +7 - -2 - +1 - -13 - -18 - -13 - -11 - -12
    ...Nuts.

    Is the second letter in that second message E or not?
    For that matter, is the first letter F?
