    Yup.
I've agreed that there were weak spots in JJTrek v.1, but liked it for it's strengths.

On the basis of spoilers, I'm not sure how much I'll like v.2. There's a few things that sound sloppy, but I'm willing to see how well they get around them.

Now post the picture of how people liking something you don't moves you to weeping like a little girl.

See, that's the thing. For me, I liked it, but it had some holes and otherwise weak points. Then again, I'm not expecting a cinematic masterpiece nor feeling owed when I don't get one. It's a Star Trek movie. A couple of facile attempts to mirror actual literature doesn't turn it into an intellectual exercise.

I do feel owed. I don't feel like I'm owed a masterpiece, or great world-shaking truths, or epiphanies -- but I do feel like I'm owed what the marketing geeks promise me.

They promised me a prequel, and the didn't deliver that. They didn't even fuckin' try to deliver that. So yeah, I'm pissed off, and rightly so, and I'm baffled that some of you aren't pissed off. We got played. We got taken for suckers. They got our money, and they did not deliver what they promised. How are some of you not pissed off at being taken for suckers?

Because life tends to balance itself.

I don't get my money's worth off of one flick?

Eventually, another flick will double my money's worth.

Avengers fixed a lot of ills.

Then you have every right -- every right -- to hate on that flick up and down the street with a party hat on.

No, Avengers earned its pay. Avengers was worth every penny of its admission price. But listen here, now, listen close to what I'm about to tell you:

You deserve to have them all do that. You deserve to get that much entertainment out of every movie. Can you dig that? You bring $20 to a movie I wrote, you deserve to get more than your money's worth. It ain't a good job, otherwise. I deliver anything less than that to you, I don't deserve your money.

I want you to leave the theater feeling like you got one over on me by paying so little, you dig? I want you to finish up a novella or a novel of mine and think to yourself, "I only paid two bucks for this? Go, me!"

    That's how it should be.

That feeling you got walking out of Avengers? That's how you oughta feel after every movie. You and I, we have the right to feel that way. Now hold your head a little higher. You're a King. We're all Kings. You get to feel like royalty. Stand up straight.

See, I got my money's worth out of the one time I bothered to go to the theatre for it. Huge screen, super surround sound, mid week afternoon showing so distinct lack of crowds, and a cute chick who was as into it as I was. I expected a reset, not a prequel, and got it.

Hell, Castle pays more for the blowjob alone.

 Gee, really? I totally wouldn't know that if someone like you hadn't come along to explain that to me. [/sarcasm]

Could you perhaps list and explain this weak spots and strengths?

Oh, never mind, this is the Red Room, and you can't even manage something like that in Media Central. I'm sure you'll just whine like the useless emo bitch that you are when it comes to this topic.

Sweetheart, you're a wonderful girlie, and ya sexy as hayull, but c'mere for a second, c'mere and listen up real close now:

My life don't revolve around Star Trek. My life don't revolve around any one thing, much less now when it's a fake make believe pretend thing. But listen here, now -- somebody tells me they're gonna tell me a story, and they say it's gonna have this and that and t'other partic'lar 'bout it, they tell me that to get my interest, to get my money...

Well, now, that mo'fackah better deliver on the things he said when he was tryin' to get my money. Dig?

Otherwise, that motherfucker lied to me to get my money. And that, to me, is stealin'. That motherfucker tells me some shit that ain't true so he can get my cash, that motherfucker just stole from me.

That's how I felt about Abrams and Co. promising a prequel and then delivering the Fuglyprise. I felt like I got stolen from.

1-I have in the past. Not gonna do it over for you. Besides, pretty much the same likes and dislikes as everyone else. Besides getting a blowjob in the theatre, maybe.
2-I'm not the one with the graphic, zippy. Nor am I the one all butt hurt that other people like something I don't and I must ridicule the for it. "I know you are but what am I" doesn't fly after the fifth grade.

    I could say the same.

Which I haven't seen much substance, too, really. At least from what I've seen, it mostly consists of technical details, visuals and the like.

No, you just like to whine about people not liking a movie that you do and having the gall to actually say something about it because it apparently spoils the circle jerk you're apparently enjoying. You know, basically the entire reason for being of this thread. :diacanu:

just as there will always be some who are not as rich as others, there will always be some not as educated as others, so quality varies. Someone makes a better hamburger, someone writes a better song, someone makes a better movie.

if there was no poor or mediocre movie, then saying "that's a great movie" has no context.

Except I've yet to whine about anything let alone resort to childish attempts to insult people for holding different opinions. You give yourself way too much credit if you think you spoil anything. On the contrary, you provide amusement that's hard to find anywhere else... which is also, in case it flew over your head, the true point of this thread. Making you dance.

I drag your fanfic in as a counterpoint to you of all people calling others "fanboy". For the rest of us, it's a pretty sweet conflict of logic.
I also make light of your pompous titles at the site. They're quaint and all, but ultimately, errr, fanboyish.

I've have also occasionaly remarked that it's better than the average TrekFic. Sort of like how JJTrek was better than the average Star Trek movie. There's a fair amount of fan servicing in them too, as I recall.

The fact that you wrote it and play dressup with your buddies though... I jsut gotta wonder if your jammies are Kirk or Spock?

Any who, keep on thinking you're winning. Just it appears you've forgotten what you were even doing here in the first place.

Yet it's a great example of you resorting to a childish attempt to insult someone. Thanks for proving my point for me. :techman: As for calling you and others a fanboy, it's in direct response to being called a "hater" by a bunch of people who are apparently fans of a movie they consider beyond criticism, because their only reaction to any criticism is name calling and other childish ad hominem attacks.

How dare you, sir!? I only dress up like cartoon characters! :shakefist:

Seems to me like I'm annoying the hell out of everyone by posting the same picture over and over. Mission accomplished so far. :D

except those folks have also leveled many criticisms at the movie. so your point is pointless.

Nope, you're entertaining us during a slow news week...Like watching retarded kids having a scissor race. The pic just gave another nugget to rip on you for.

I've yet to see any evidence of this. Mostly it consists of bashing the critic to defend the movie.
