I was only at half smug. I accidentally reversed the polarity of the neutron flow, and it short-circuited the ODN line leading to the intermix chamber, forcing my engines to smug at half speed.
I want to see how arbitrary it gets. They won't permanently ban me anyway. I don't cause that much ruckus and I've broken few rules. And if they ban me for this post alone, then I've proven how arbitrary it gets. They know I know how to walk up to the line without crossing it.

I'll state for the record we fucked it all up, but I will be driving for the better part of eight hours going home tomorrow and some others on staff have work/travel this weekend. You change your reputation by changing your behavior. You tell us that we should've ignored gturner, but yet you can't even do the same with them for....reasons.
You shouldn't say openly "we're fixing it" unless you have an idea of what it is. Otherwise it couyld be interpeated as "more bannings are coming" which Gul's latest banning and comments point towards. Well, this is not just about you. Paladin wants out because of the attitude and I would be a liar if I said I hadn't thought about it again the past few days, but so far stuck around because of the usual accusations of meltdown and drama that come with any attempt to boycott. Plus, you know, why should long term members feel so disenchanted that they feel they have to go? This whole idea that gturner was driving people off, or was going to, wouldn't be so bad if the mods were liked and well respected. But more people have left or want to leave since Lanzman sold the board than ever in the board's lifetime. So, again, it is arrogant to not stop and consider how wise it is to fundamentally change a place the mods want to see, irrespective of the members that predate them as mods by many many years. If there's any "fixing" to be done then it has had to be fixing the relationship between the mods and members well before any further attempts are made to "fix" the dynamic of the board.

"Fixing it" means "we're sorting out the fuck ups". And by fuck ups, I mean the bad decision making. Short of Nazi porn and the other shit Volpone was pulling, I personally have no plans of kicking anyone else off. But assuming you get mods/staff you trust and some of us step down...what then? A common refrain from every owner has been feeling like they have an albatross around their neck by not being able to do anything with accusation of Eliteforge for any decision. It wears anyone out. If you want the keys to the kingdom, I'd be more than happy to let you have them if it were entirely up to me. Maybe I've just become a different person than I used to be. But this incident has taught me that past staff weren't always evil. Not even Listkeeper, snotty ass that he was. And since you're big on fairness, what exactly has happened before this? He had Discouragement....a drama that evaporated once O2C jumped in and explained the feature clearly and left ego at the door but wasn't even implemented. There was Derpgate with Paladin removing some Dayton bashing out a thread. And Anc admitted to having garamet on ignore and wanted to ban her. But didn't. He never should've had her on ignore but much like Castle, her borderline stalker behavior after that helped wear down any sympathy that many had for her. A whole lotta nothing, and the ones who left were ones who were looking for an excuse to leave, mainly Scorp and Muad.
And also, I wouldn't mind having a handful of new posters a year if I wasn't so embarrassed to bring folks here. No one gets why we allowed racist shit to be said and even fewer would stay to bash on someone for them the way we all, liberal and conservative alike, would have once done on Tasvir for example. But now, assholes like Dinner can spew their unabated hate because the sane voices have long since left on both sides. I mean, who here besides Pepeforge was to be associated with the alt-right, even by mistake? Just food for thought.
Just to clarify, only gturner was completely. banned. Volpone and Poodle are on one week vacations. And Faceman is already back.
