Great theory. May work at a hotel in a hurricane evacuation zone. But, it doesn't hold water when it comes to global e-commerce. It's true that there is a finite supply, but that supply is huge, with millions of units still on the market. Charging $80.00 each for what I can easily get elsewhere for $15.99 each is lunacy and just general dirty pool. There's rational self-rationing and then there's a thinly veiled effort to not sell them at all.
Fuckin' keep 'em. Stick them in a model box in the bottom of a big stack of model boxes. The law is stupid and Unconstitutional. It is your responsibility to ignore it. I was never prouder than when my Dad picked up a compensator for my Clinton Ban M-14, filed off the bastardized one, and stuck the proper one on. Not only was it technically a felony but it made the gun shoot much better. It helped stabilize shots and manage recoil. (That's why I don't call it a "flash suppressor.)
