Anyone with graphical skills want to create an ebook cover image for me?

It's going to be a guide to vaping for n00bs. So I need a pic of a PV (e-cig) with maybe some vapor and... I don't have a title for it yet. This isn't a full on request, just a, "Hey, can ya? Ya wanna?" sort of an inquiry at this point. You'll get credit for your image, that much I can promise. I'm broke as fuck, though, and I'm not even sure how many words the thing will run, much less how much I'll charge for it, let alone tell you how many sales to expect, so payment for your efforts is so far up in the air people are staring at it out of Mir and asking, "The fuck is that?!" in Russian.

That looks damn good. The title will be different, but yes, that looks just how I'd want it to -- classy.

The subject matter will cover the basics of the hardware and questions about juice, but I'm also going to add entertaining anecdotes between each of the major sections, and also cover topics like the current findings on the health benefits of switching, the ethics of regulation of vaping, hardware recommendations for various usage scenarios and so on. It still won't be War and Peace, but the additional topics should give it a little more heft.

Yeah, I just chucked in a placeholder title. Let me know when you've written the thing and I can make up something with final title and whatever resolutions/aspect ratios you want.

edit: Just saw your addition, sounds like an interesting read. Give me a code for a free download of it when it's done and we'll call it even.

I like Bailey's work, but was wondering how it would look in different tints? The yellow range makes me think of nicotine-maybe warm blues?

Nah, it's okay for people to take pleasure in it.

The first version was actually darker, with blue colours to try and play up the artificial electronic aspect of vaping. Wasn't sitting right with me though, so I tried inverting the whole image, which is what this is. When I get home I'll upload a version with the proper title, along with showing what the original version looked like.

And just in case you were curious, here was what it looked like initially when I was trying to chase that electronic feel I wasn't happy with in the end.

I like the blue one better.

I'm going with the one Bailey liked better -- it'll play just fine on the monochromatic Kindle models, and I think it has more class than the darker one, and "conversational but classy" is what I'm aiming for with this book.

The book which is tooling right along, by the way. I expect to release it no later than the last week of September/first week of October.

Saved that one, too, just to try it out in the Kindle Previewer app and see how it looks.

So as I proceed through the composition, I've realized that I need to include pictures of the various types of PVs out there. Here's the problem: I'm not solid on whether or not I can use them without getting hassled for it.

So I need to find a Photoshop (or equivalent) filter that will make the photos look like black and white sketches.

Can anyone tell me what that kind of filter is likely to be called and which, if any, OSX apps would have it other than Photoshop?
