And you can prove this how exactly? Show your work - and don't use Australia as a model,
because the whole issue is different cultures. And how would you round up hundreds of millions
of guns? Remember, criminals in general don't listen to authority/government and in the US nobody
listens to authority/government. So all the senile old ladies will the only one in line at the gun buyback
with their husband's ancient revolver. Yeah, that will keep some Chicago kid alive another day.

This point was addressed in the OP... and it went something like....The gun used at sandy hook cost a $1000 dollars and can be bought by mail order. The same gun in Australia after the gun ban cost £30,000 and required that you get involved in a criminal underworld in order to obtain it....

I see your point but due to that pesky thing we call "supply and demand" guns (because of their ample supply) will always be cheaper in the US. So are you going to pass the hat among your fellow do-gooders and buy up our supply so that the average crazy can't buy one? Sounds like a plan, go on ahead! BTW there is no fucking way in hell the average crazy will LEGALLY buy a gun through mail order in the US. Notice the word legally. :chris:So let me break this down for you:
if you are a licensed dealer you can purchase guns to sell to other people, but they still must pass the background check or you yourself go to prison. So let me get this straight - when the Australian gun ban took effect ,guns disappeared, thus
raising their value. I fully understand that, good for them. If you had such a ban in the US the resounding "fuck you"
would resonate throughout the galaxy. So it's apples and oranges, and kind of a Catch-22.
The Catch-22 is that the US has so many violent criminals (many concentrated in gun restricted areas BTW ) that we wouldn't give up an important factor in self defense for the non-criminal. So unless you can guarantee that the next guy robbing the store is only armed with a knife, clerks will carry guns. Now factor in many Americans hunt or recreational shoot. Kind of hard to do that without a gun. So let's say a gun ended up costing as much as a car - now only the very rich crazies can buy a gun.
Now you have a discrimination problem. Poor people don't have the right to defend themselves or hunt/target shoot.

Why do you hate the poor? Why do you only want rich people to own guns? :brood:

Bottom line - first melt down every gun in the US and guarantee that none will be made or smuggled in.
Newsflash! Guns, drugs, humans, etc. are smuggled in 24/7, 365 days a week.
Can you guarantee 99.9 percent of the guns will be gone? Let's hear your plan without violating civil rights. What we
would end up with is violent criminals having the guns that were smuggled in versus the average law.
Yes, criminals are good at obtaining mass amounts of cash on short notice and will buy guns at any price to protect their interests from other criminals. So let's add that - remove all potentially violent criminal from the US. How hard can that be?
You just underwent Prohibition 2, Electric Boogaloo. How well did Prohibition control crime in the US? :chris:
All it did was make criminals richer. So wrap you mind around this - prohibiting guns will increase and
    enable crime in the US.

Funny how the anti-gun people have a lot of great ideas, but no concrete plan that will actually work
here in the US. Does it make them sleep better at night or what?

Americans haven't been able to buy guns mail order since the Gun Control Act of 1968 (thanks, Lee Harvey).

Shhhhh........! Let them have their little fantasy. To them if you don't have to jump through hoops
and eat a long line of shit to get a gun, it's too easy.

Yeah, booze especially is another one we fetishize--you get fucktard that use it as an excuse to do stupid shit on one end, and folks like my mom that have no clue how alcoholism works, and that having a drink or two with dinner will make you dependant :jayzus:

    I blame Prohibition, honestly.
