Austrian Court: Yodeling is Offensive to Muslims.

He was fined because he could have offended them. Not that he did, but because he might.

I really don't have the words to describe how pissed this makes me.

 

Oh, we all know that Sharia goes before every indigenous, secular or non-secular, practice occuring in any country on planet Earth. It really doesn't matter if said practice started 500 years before any Muslim shithead ever placed a foot in the region.

 

What I want to know is why the courts didn't just ask the Muslim that complained "well, what exactly do you want us to do about it because we have this thing called free speech here in the West."

It's obviously fully alright to disturb neighbors five times a day by shouting some religious drivel. However, if you're singing along, you're in violation of the law.

Sorry guys, I took a closer look at the story. The "Kronezeitung" is an Austrian right-wing rag and made a shitstorm out of nothing. The guy seemed to have terrorized the whole neighborhood with yodeling, lawnmoving and other stuff over and over, so the police had to come. He always did it when the muslims prayed every Friday, and used other creative methods to disturb them. It was not the muslims who pressed charges, but the police... The "Kronenzeitung" has taken all articles about the case offline, btw... Because they fucked up so badly and were called on it.

So, there is no need to hate muslims even more because of this... There are better reasons, really. Enough of them.

I don't care if he was only doing all that to piss of the Muslims. If he has to listen to their shit multiple times a day, they can listen to his. There should be no special consideration paid to religious practices. Annoying noise is annoying noise.

 

The article made a point of detailing the Muezzin thingy. My assumption was that yodeling man was deliberately making sounds to compete with it.

 

Yes, but Jan's post pointed out that asshole was terrorizing the whole hood. That's the in my book. I have no sympathy for Muslims complaining about noise.

People who make annoying sounds deserve no sympathy when they complain about other peoples' noises. Whether or not the noise relates to a religious practice is irrelevant.

I have no sympathy for ANYONE or any group complaining about noise when they make a racket all the time. If you want to Right to blast you call to prayer others have the same right to Yodel.

It just happens to be that Muslims to blast this shit 5X a day. Thus they fit the category best.

 

I heard that "call to prayer" enough in Bosnia to last me. That's what we got for leaving the Serb neighborhood.

 

The Muslim students did that 5X a day prayer thing here at Fort Gordon back when I taught them. We had to reschedule our break times so they didn't conflict with their prayers. They need a place for all of them to congregate in privacy.

I know a helicopter pilot instructor who said one almost crashed once because he did a borderline "hard landing" because he needed to get down fast, so that he could rush out of the helicopter + get on the ground before the prayers were over. :santa_shocked:

I'm guessing my instructor friend got on the ground too....to kiss it because he almost got his ticket punched!

 

They are broadcast from the mosques. Most do it, in one form or another wherever they are. Knowing a few Muslims means nothing.

 

So this neighbor was an asshole. How does yodeling and mowing his lawn terrorize the neighborhood? Why do the muslims get a pass with their call to prayers but a dickhead get hit with a 800 Euro fine for being loud and obnoxious?
