Back to school with Sam Cooke [YT="Wonderful World"]m1qQixLP_UA[/YT] [YT="Only Sixteen"]H4KZ-t2zLkA[/YT]
I was just thinking about Sam Cooke a few days ago. Even on oldies stations you hardly ever hear his songs on the radio. He had a very recognizable voice and style. Chain Gang is my favorite SC song.
DUDE! Check out this Sam Cooke cover - these guys NAIL IT! [YT="Sam Cooke cover - The Moonlighters"]YnKL_HYCvq0[/YT]
[yt=Prozac, Ltd. - Alone In My Prison]boaACyytues[/yt] There's actually something of a story behind why I'm posting this one. Believe it or not, this piece of music was actually created just for a community-created modification of the PC game, "Battlefield 1942." The mod was called "Eve of Destruction", and changed the setting of the game from WW2 to Vietnam. Well, back in the days of Eve of Destruction, I was one of their AI coders, and got the Battlefield 1942 AI to behave in a more human-like fashion by manipulating the code the game engine used to determine what weapons the "bots" would use against which targets and at which ranges; also, how the AI would use vehicles and the vehicles' weapons. I wish I still had the FRAPS gameplay videos from back then; sadly, I don't. But if you run a Google search on the terms "Eve of Destruction" + Legion + Ballistik you'll be able to find some reviews, possibly.

Skeeter Davis Mary Frances Penick was born in Dry Ridge, Kentucky, in December of 1931. Her grandfather gave her the name Skeeter. In high school, she teamed up with Betty Jack Davis, to form a duo called The Davis Sisters. In 1951, they received a recording contract from RCA. In 1953, they had a #1 country hit with "I forgot More than You'll Ever Know". In September of '53, while traveling to a concert, they were in an auto accident, and Betty Jack Davis was killed. Skeeter Davis continued as a solo act. Her biggest hit was "The End of the World", which hit #2 on both the pop chart and the country chart, in the summer of 1963. HA! I remember seeing the Blue Light vid when it first came out around 83 or so. You rarely here the song on the radio, even classic rock stations. Guess it wasn't enough of a "hit" so they have to play a Lynryd Skynyrd song in it's place.
