That is only possible if you see everything as existing in a linear format. Politics is not linear. There are left-wing libertarians, right-wing libertarians, anti-capitalist libertarians, free market libertarians, and so on, and so on. Libertarianism is kind of like atheism, in that it is modular. You can add to it based upon your own personal beliefs. For example, as an atheist, I can be a Pagan atheist. I could be an atheist and a humanist. I can be all three. I can be more than that, because the base definition of atheism is "a lack of belief or a strong disbelief in the existence of a god or any gods." From there, I can add whatever I wish. The same applies to libertarianism. The base definition of libertarianism is "a person who upholds the principles of individual liberty especially of thought and action." From there, I can add whatever I wish, as long as it still resonates with the base definition. Very little is ever black or white. To say "you can't be" is to deny that humans will pretty much do whatever the fuck they want, or that the universe cares what you think it can and can't do. They will, and it doesn't. Libertarian socialism is "a political doctrine that promotes decentralized collectivism as a means of maximizing individual freedom and minimizing the power of the state and of concentrated private wealth." Socialism is more than what you think it is. Libertarianism is more than what you think it is. Both have a much longer history throughout the world than just what you see in the United States. It's worth investigating. Source(s): http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Libertarian Socialist https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/atheism https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/libertarian
Yeah..., no. Libertarianism has an economic element to it and goes against what you defined. Hyak, Rand, Mises, Friedman, Rothbard have all argued staunchly against socialism, I doubt they'd agree.
So you're just going to refuse to actually read up on the history of Libertarianism, and Libertarian Socialism, and stick to your limited understanding of it. Whatever.
Looked it and it's still a no and Noam Chomsky is describing crony capitalism, not laze fare capitalism and is wrong to call that libertarianism.
You "looked it?" Are you sure? It's more than an article, it's a complex political structure based on social responsibility and individual freedom. Oh well, I tried.
One of @Federal Farmer 's biggest problems is that he's one of the more narrow and limited, binary thinkers Wordforge has to offer.
None that I can remember, other than idiots who came in to stir up shit and hate the mods because they’re mods.
Agreed. A good explanation of it can be found here: http://thoughtsonliberty.com/what-is-libertarian-socialism The author of that article is a more mainstream Libertarian, but she makes the effort to understand. She doesn't necessarily agree, but she makes the honest effort to know. Why is that so hard? My favorite part from that link:
There's a great new potential recruit posting in the Future of Trek forum. Unless, of course, it's @Anduril or something. Weird capitalization of words? Dropping "SJW" in a post? We need this guy.
If you want to hang out with an old coot @oldfella1962 is around. I hear he likes talking about music. Go talk to him about that. We don't need to bring some other old fogey in here and have him talking about his pills and what is in his stool.
Yeah, the SJW mods over at the Discovery forum think that it is pretty much OK to repeatedly post "Trump is Hitler!!" over there, which they do not consider trolling, but if you use the acronym "SJW" or say snowflake in a generic sense (not directed at some other member) then they start with the bannings. They pretty much ban anyone who expresses that they voted for Trump at the first opportunity.
Oh good grief. The mods for the Discovery forums are all far Left. They allow posters to repeatedly say stuff like "Trump is Hitler" but ban folks for just using the term SJW in a generic statement. They literally have one mod that is a "trans rights activist" that openly baits people into disagreeing with "him/her" and then banning.
When they ban you, you don't have access to PMs. (Which is why their "comments to PM" is so fucking stupid) so I don't 100% know the post that officially got me banned there, but it most like was this one: "No, it isn't that people who use the term "SJW" as a pejorative ephithet are comfortable marking ourselves as " anti-feminist, anti-progressive, and socially conservative", it is just a case of the "Boy who cried wolf" meme coming home to roost. We've already learned the hard way, that with the SJW crowd, that there is NOTHING that we can do to win their approval. Just by our mere existence, according to their own declarations, we are inherently racist, sexist, homophobic, and every other single insult that the fascist far Left can throw at us. For an example from my own life: My Dad fought in WWII against the real Nazis in Europe, before that he grew up dirt poor as one of nine children on a farm in Oklahoma. Many years after the war when he had married and had kids, he took us to sign up for baseball at a city operated league. The kids were all there, and the coaches would pick ones for their teams. After a while, my dad noticed that not a single coach picked a black kid to be on their team. Then the guy who headed the league declared that the team selection was now over. "Wait a minute!", my dad told him, "There are still children who have not been placed on a team." With a malevolent smirk, the Commissioner said, "Well, it doesn't look like there's a coach for them, so its' over." "They've got a coach now!" my dad responded, and he formed a team with just my brothers and all of the black kids that had been discriminated against. A number of the kids were so poor, they didn't have baseball gloves or other equipment, so my dad took them all to the store and bought them what they needed. And he worked them hard, he pushed them to their limits, kinda like Lorca. He told them up front: "You are angry at how you've been treated, and you should be. But being angry isn't enough. We need to teach them a lesson. We need to show them that you not only deserve to be on a team, but that you are the best of the best!" They won the league championship. Even into his eighties, my dad would still get phone calls from some of those guys that he had coached when they were only ten years old, but now had their own children and in some cases even grandchildren. They all wanted to talk to "coach", their lifelong friend who had stood up for them when no one else would. And in the final year of my dad's life, I had to watch as SJWs shouted at him that he was a "Nazi" and a "racist", just because he was wearing a Make America Great Again hat. They told him that he needed to shut up and "check your priviledge". So all of you far Left hatemongers can fuck off, to be blunt. I already know that the moderation here is far Left, and pretty much in line with the bastards who shouted those things at my dad. A big reason why Trump won is precisely because of the Leftwing intolerance that is manifested in the SJW movement and the bias displayed at places like this. We are tired of the hateful lies being thrown at us every day. We are tired of the cultural Marxism that ignores MLK's injunction to judge people by the content of their character but instead focuses entirely on dividing people by race, sexual orientation, etc. So no, we don't use the term "SJW" because we are "racist" or any of your other insults, we use it because the SJWs are real and they need to be utterly defeated. They are a hate-group that are threatening our very democracy and basic rights like freedom of speech. " They ban anyone who isn't willing to kowtow to their SJW agenda.
