Not really. They went through some shit, and now conservatives are outright gaslighting and bullying them. Not just on news media, but to the point of calling them to bully them. Here's a voicemail one of the officers received (it's pretty fucked up, I didn't listen to the whole thing): https://mobile.twitter.com/LindsayBrinks/status/1420226192632778756 How much of that could you put up with? Not to mention that there is a psychological impact when one member of a group commits suicide. It can sometimes bring the others to a similar tipping point.
That is terrible and so wrong that people would actually call up a complete stranger and talk to them like that. But ..., I would quit my job, change my phone number, I don't know. I just don't see me committing suicide because other people are assholes. Hell, not even as a teenager did I ever consider suicide. Not saying these people are wrong if they actually did commit suicide. I just think it's ... suspicious.
When there is a deranged population of millions of people brainwashed by decades of conservative propaganda after you, they aren't just going to stop when you quit your job. That would embolden them, if anything. These nutjobs did the same thing to teenage survivors of school shootings for fucks sake, including death threats.
That is something that definitely needs to be stopped. and people need to be shamed when they even think about calling up people and behaving in such a way. This is what happens when you give stupid people telephones and internet.
I have to agree. There is too much here associated with a corrupt police department who is under investigation for their understaffing that day, and known internal connections with the terrorists. 4 suicides is something that should be investigated if for nothing more than how we can improve psychological help after a traumatic event like this. Also, every person who left a threatening voice mail should be charged for whatever they can be under the law. Even if it is suicide and no one can be charged with killing them it is clear threats were made and their lives were disturbed which is not free speech. When the police started cracking down on the domestic terrorism after the 6th a lot of people backed off of these terrorist organizations. Maybe if you are going to jail for making prank calls some of these idiots might stop doing it. The ones that do not can sit in a fucking cage where they belong. If the right is actually about funding the police to catch criminals, then they shyould be on the side of the law. This is another instance where the law needs to recognize terrorists are not on their side, and they should act accordingly with arresting the MAGA terrorists instead of letting them go because they are white.
It is not just phone calls. They have to work with these terrorists in their department. If they decide to move they will be blacklisted by every police department because they informed on the MAGAts and possibly are endangering their department supervisors who hung them out to dry that day. Really, changing your phone number and address is not going to hide your ass. Do you know how easy it is to trace those changes? There are free sites and sites that charge less than a dollar that will find out your new cell or landline and address. If you know someone's phone number and address you can get a list of everywhere they have lived and every phone number they have. You can also get any family they have, and anyone who has ever been on their phone plans. This is all as some no one without any law enforcement access which any cop who hates what they are doing can do. These guys are being hounded by LEOs who are working with the terrorists like the proud boys feeding them information. Look at what went on with the Sandy Hook and Parkland victoms and the terrorists. These guys are the targets of the terrorists. That will never end. These cops were the good ones who felt they were serving and protecting society and now they find out the society they protect wants them dead or is turning the other way and allowing them to be destroyed. That is a case for suicide, but I do agree the investigation is needed and it has to go after the police terrorists also. Even if these guys committed suicide they were being destroyed by others. Some of those others were abusing police powers. -
Hope we convinced Jenee before she fell down the rabbit hole: https://crooksandliars.com/2021/08/wingers-spin-tall-tales-around-police
I'm thinking you're misunderstanding my suspicions. I don't doubt these people are dead. I don't doubt they were harrassed beyond reason. I'm suspicious of the fact that 4 people who were involved in a political incident with far reaching repercussions who happen to be on the opposite side of those reaching for power have committed suicide. It just sounds like a plot to a political action movie.
Quote from C&L, but link to the original article at RawStory. I've corrected C&L's mistake calling Haynes "Covington" in the second sentence - Covington is where he lives. https://www.rawstory.com/capitol-rioter--joshua-dillon-haynes-/
What do you suspect happened if not suicide? That these four people were targeted and killed by someone who wanted to make it look like a suicide? If so, who? Why? Why is suspicious that people "harassed beyond reason" have committed suicide? Given the level of the trauma, the lack of mental health support for people in general, the extra layer of macho in policing that might make officers more resistant to getting mental health, the extra level of betrayal by people who should be expected to "back the blue," it is unfortunately not a surprising concept to me that police officers involved in the riots might commit suicide. Indeed, suicide among cops is a pretty serious issue in lots of departments.
Who says that's the Capitol? Lots of buildings look like that, the design is just a coincidence and most people wouldn't think that's supposed to be the Capitol at all.
Which doesn't mean a lot at this stage of the investigation. The handful of people who've been sentenced have all been folks who don't appear to have any direct ties to groups like the Proud Boys. Additionally, the information in the article comes from unnamed sources, only some of whom are active law enforcement personnel. They may, or may not, know what they're talking about. Finally, given that some of the people connected to Trump who many people suspect were directly involved in this have the means to leave the country quickly, it seems prudent to say that they're not considered suspects, even if they are, simply to avoid the hassle of having to extradite them from somewhere else when you do file charges.
