Isn't Rittenhouse's lawyer the only person who knows where he is because the scum sucking judge in the case said it was OK for him to hide from the state while awaiting trial? Seems to me a warrant should be issued for rittenhouse and he should be held until trial because of multiple issues. Also any other defendant who chooses to wait on this lawyer to return from his shennanigans. If you are holding these people while awaiting trial this sort of delay tactic would backfire. Hey, delay as long as the defense likes with this bullshit, but you can sit in jail without bail. You would get another lawyer in a day if this was the case.
Maybe Rittenhouse killed him. Wouldn't exactly be out of character for how he deals with potential threats.
TBF, after three hours of dealing with that prick, you have the option of let him go or brutally murder him. And they aren't US cops.
That is one thing I don't get. How would this rob your client's of money? It might rob them of a quality defense, and it might have them sit in jail or on some sort of restricted release for longer, but how would this give him more fees over all? As for the other items being out on bail is normally not considered imprisoned and can work for you at sentencing if as the client you behave well. Spending time in prison waiting for trial counts towards your sentence and often has sway with the judge for giving you time served if you are going to serve time. I also do not get why the courts did not allow him a continuance for COVID. I am not a lawer and maybe @Raoul the Red Shirt might help illuminate why a court would not just grant a continuance on the word a lawyer got ill. It would just seem to me there was something super shady going on that would make a judge not just simply give it another month. Every time I have seen things from the client side it was always give it another month if your lawyer or the prosecutor had some problems up to a year into things. I have seen people sit in limbo waiting for their trial for 2 years with the delays on both sides. I know I waited a year for a trial on a hit and run before they could get the old coot to show the fuck up for trial. On my felony count it took 8 months to get my first offer from the prosecutor. Having been in court I have seen just a bunch of cases being pushed off month after month for some procedural bullshit. Why the fuck can't some person call the court clerk and just say the lawyer is sick and needs a continuance? That shows a major unprofessional sign you need to get rid of this lawyer. Hospitals have registrations and professional lawyers have services and employees who can do this. I get his clients might not know as the only time they might see him now is on the court date, but this just seems very strange.
He's a fraud. A legitimate trial lawyer would have support staff and partners to fill-in in the event of illness, or to file the appropriate continuance request. He had a guy show up. On NPR he stated he's defending about 20 jan6 rioters. This isn't a caseload a single lawyer can handle, unless they're Raoul or Face, of course. He also divulged he has no trial experience. He gained notoriety for being Kyle Rittenhouse's lawyer. Until they fired him.
Because it became clear he had less interest in getting Rittenhouse out of jail then he had in gaining notoriety (whilst stringing the murderous little shitbag and his mother along with visions of massive lawsuit payouts and subsequent GOP/MAGA "hero" gravy train).
He may be a fraud, but in fairness: Depending on the nature of the emergency, it is possible that there wasn't time to arrange for another attorney to cover for him. It sounds like the person who did show up has taken the bar but is awaiting results, if I remember what I read correctly. I'd imagine the typical public defender or prosecutor would love a caseload of only 20 cases, all of which arise from the same general set of facts. Then again, it also is a question of what his defense plan is. I imagine for many of these people they have video and social-media admissions as to their participation. If so, what do you do with that? Just concentrate on working out plea deals? Try some crazy "It was ANTIFA!" defense? Or play to the MAGA base and be like "extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice"?
In Edgy Washington, Police Outnumber Jan. 6 Protesters Well, that was a big bust. Funny how law enforcement came out in strength today. Where were they on January 6th? Might it be because there was a different commander-in-chief?
Hmmmmm, whypipo don't start no shit when they are outnumbered and will clearly lose. Who would have guessed the united wussies of america were such wussbags? Oh, just about everyone except those who were responsible for security on the 6th. It is almost like they opened up the doors for the weak and useless to come into the capitol. @Paladin is cowering in his bunker sucking his thumb under his picture of rocky with trump's head.
