Rush Limbaugh and Volpone haz a sad: ---------------- House panel: No administration wrongdoing in Benghazi attack (08-01) 11:42 PDT WASHINGTON -- The House Intelligence Committee, led by Republicans, has concluded that there was no deliberate wrongdoing by the Obama administration in the 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, said Rep. Mike Thompson of St. Helena, the second-ranking Democrat on the committee. The panel voted Thursday to declassify the report, the result of two years of investigation by the committee. U.S. intelligence agencies will have to approve making the report public. Thompson said the report "confirms that no one was deliberately misled, no military assets were withheld and no stand-down order (to U.S. forces) was given." . . . . Among the Intelligence Committee's findings, according to Thompson: -- Intelligence agencies were "warned about an increased threat environment, but did not have specific tactical warning of an attack before it happened." -- "A mixed group of individuals, including those associated with al Qaeda, (Moammar) Khadafy loyalists and other Libyan militias, participated in the attack." -- "There was no 'stand-down order' given to American personnel attempting to offer assistance that evening, no illegal activity or illegal arms transfers occurring by U.S. personnel in Benghazi, and no American was left behind." -- The administration's process for developing "talking points" was "flawed, but the talking points reflected the conflicting intelligence assessments in the days immediately following the crisis." ----------------0 I suppose the 'tards will claim that House Intelligence Committee is staffed by a bunch of RINOs. Nothing will ever shut those fuckers up about this non-scandal, the IRS non-scandal, or the Central American child refugee non-scandal.
But, but.... Hilderbeast! Benghazigate! There MUST be something there, else why wouldn't any evidence be found (meaning obvious pains were taken to hide or destroy the evidence!)? Explain that! EXPLAIN THAT!!!1!
Good it's settled. And there is no deliberate wrongdoing in intitating an investigation of the Benghazi attacks! So attackers weren't run-of-the-mill protestors who found an RPG on the way to the riot? Who started the speculation on that anyway? It's been a while.
Wonder when the mainstream is gonna go with this? Maybe when the report is officially out? FoxNews will probably have barf bags on hand for the writers and anchors so that they can get through it. Poor guys. But it's good to know that the Obama administration wasn't involved in any deliberate conspiracy and that instead it was just good old-fashioned incompetence.
Yes, next thing you know, they'll be claiming some country has WMDs, sending in hundreds of thousands of troops to capture those WMDs, only to discover that there weren't any. You know, maybe the Libertarian's are right, and ineptitude is the rule of the day when it comes to government.
Are you going to pretend people believe republicans when they say things they don't like? Do you really have that little blood in your kool-aid system?
The Congressional Republicans are making a statement against interest. That tends to give it more credibility.
Sorry...doesn't work that way. you either think a group is credible or not, you can't just decide they are when it's convenient.
Has nothing to do with convenient. It's very much to do with it being inconvenient. It's inconvenient to Republicans to issue a report that so thoroughly repudiated the drooling idiots of the party. So why do they make the report? A preponderance of evidence gives them little choice. Also, this just confirms the information that the rest of us already examined and understood. So again, the report is credible because it matches the data. That's two reasons to go with it. The third, of course, is that it reveals the Nobamatons for the fools that they are, which is a rather appealing side result.
Really? It shouldn't be that hard to grasp. Republicans claimed BENGHAZI!!!1! to be a scandal. Sane people disagreed calling the claims bullshit. Even Republicans are forced to agree that claims that BENGHAZI!!!1! are a scandal are bullshit. Sane people agree. That is logically consistent. In each instance it is about judging the claims that the Republicans are making/have made.
I'm not arguing over the content of the report at all. I'm laughing at people who don't believe a word republicans say until it matches their agenda and then it's irrefutable truth.
Yes it does, just b/c someone is occasionally wrong, sometimes wrong, or even mostly wrong doesn't mean they are always wrong.
But as we've already pointed out, that's not what's happening. Think about it his way: Somebody says, "hey, the sky is falling! We say, "um, no Chicken Little, that was an acorn." Chicken Little notes the acorn on the ground, says, "um, yeah, guess you were right," then hangs his head in shame. You would have us now say, "nope, sky is falling, because you've proven you can't be right."
I never thought Benghazi was any kind of scandal. It was just handled poorly. The blaming of the video was pure bullshit. "Gosh. Had we not angered those Muslims with that video, things woulda been peachy." Like the IRS crap, it only became a scandal because they tried to hide shit. No! Not Mr. Transparency!
This. Folks on the left are crazy if they think this helps the president in any way. Most of the american people believe him to be incompetent and at this point he's already a lame duck president. So far this new century has been a shitty one for Presidents. Hopefully the next guy or gal changes that.
Meanwhile, Data Holmes (the Poster formerly known as Ted) is over in TNZ arguing that the report is horseshit because it doesn't match his agenda... Sane people understand that this is not about "winning." It's about sifting through the evidence to draw an accurate conclusion about what happened in a crisis situation.
Who mentioned "winning"? I certainly don't feel like I'm winning having this incompetent joke as a president. We knew he had nothing in his past experience to suggest that he had any ability for the job so it's not much of a surprise. Unfortunately, the GOP has offered nothing as an alternative for a very long time.
T.R seems to think this was all about "helping" the President. Helping him what, exactly? Win reelection?
Ah...I took it as Dems may feel the end result of the committee's report helps the president, not that the intent of the report was to help the president. But he is a lame duck right now and the only things he needs help with are the midterm elections and his legacy. Neither of which are looking good. Not that he cares as he seems very disinterested in current events. I mean he was so interested in Trayvon Martin getting shot but young black men are getting shot and killed by the hundreds in his home city of Chicago and we hear not a peep about that. Israel is killing civilians by the hundreds in Gaza yet Obama's drones are doing the same thing by the thousands. The things he inserts himself into are inconsistent with his actual actions. Gaza, the Ukraine erupt in flashes of violence and he's somewhere giving a speech about jobs.
