A good scene, no doubt, but I respectfully defend my initial point. Just an amazing scene from beginning to end--from the panoramic shot of the harbor with the company formed up on the dock as the Captain pulls up in the launch; to the drill and double-timing down the streets scaring the Hell out of the locals; to the US ambassador grimly watching, a loaded pistol behind his back for the unexpected; right up to when they storm the palace and seize the prince or whatever his name is. What's the line--as he pulls his sword out of one of the palace guards? "Captain Johnson, United States Marine Corps. You, sir are my prisoner." "You are a very dangerous man, Captain." "Yes, sir, I am. "
Extremely cool yet an urban legend. Those words are nowhere in the Bible - only in the script to the movie
They're in the Bible, but the passage is stretched. The actual Ezekiel 25:17 according to my wife's KJV Bible: The verses the chapter are similar in wording to that one, with lots of "...and they shall know that I am the Lord"
There have been several great ones listed so I'll just add to the mix. The first six or so minutes of Full Metal Jacket.
I will gladly take my place in hell because I actually got to use one of those lines once. "Who said that? Who the fuck said that? Who's the slimey little communist shit twinkle-toed cocksucker down here that just signed his own death warrant?"
Can't believe no one's said it yet: The opening scene in "Star Wars". Start it from "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away..." or from when the Rebel blockade-runner goes tearing by. Either way, it's
My Cousin Vinny - at the end where he demolishes all the witnesses: "Were those magic grits? Did the man who sold Jack the magic beans sell you those grits?"
Some more: Henry Fonda pulls out the switchblade knife (the same kind the killer is said to have used) in '12 Angry Men.' The "daughter...sister...daughter...sister" revelation in 'Chinatown.' Travis Bickle's (Robert DeNiro) "you talkin' to me" speech from 'Taxi Driver.' Aging western criminals make their last stand in 'The Wild Bunch.' Henry II (Peter O'Toole) and Eleanor (Katherine Hepburn) trade barbs which leads to talk of divorce in 'The Lion in Winter.' Spade (Humphrey Bogart) meets Gutman (Sydney Greenstreet) in 'The Maltese Falcon.' Grace Kelly searches the unoccupied apartment of a suspected murderer while wheelchair bound Jimmy Stewart watches through binoculars...and then the killer returns in 'Rear Window.' The supersonic flight of the X-1 with Chuck Yeager (Sam Shepherd) at the controls in 'The Right Stuff.' Two men (John Wayne, Jeffrey Hunter) obsessed with finding a girl relative (Natalie Wood) kidnapped by Indians encounter her unexpectedly in 'The Searchers.' Newsman Howard Beale's (Peter Finch) on-air meltdown ("I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!") in 'Network.'
Several of my favs.... The end scene of Schindler's List The final dialogue at the end of American Beauty The video at the end of Pay It Forward The moment in Vanilla Sky where David (Cruise) finally calls for Tech Support, and the music for it is Good Vibrations. The dinner scene in As Good As It Gets, where Nicholson says, "You make me want to be a better man." A Few Good Men, when Tom Cruise says, "Dont call me son. I am an officer in the United States Navy, and you're under arrest you son of a bitch."
Every scene of Fight Club... it had to be said. and I love the ending of What Dreams May Come, where they meet as kids...
Theoden's speech at Pelennor, with the Rohirrim chanting "Death!" in that special "We don't give a fuck about dying" way.
When you're blue, and you dont know where to go to, why dont you go where fashion sits... PAHRAAHGGHRA RAAAAHZH!
I love the scene when norton go's to tell Pitt and the bird to stop making all the noise when there shagging, and Pitt opens the door with a pair of marigold dish washing gloves on! Just got to wonder what the fuck he was up to.........................
Having watched the new Rocky flick recently, I was reminded of this scene from Rocky II. Best scene from the whole Rocky saga imo.
