As if we needed further evidence that awards shows are just Hollywood circle jerks. I still remember Shakespeare in Love beating Saving Private Ryan at the Oscars. Guess which film still gets talked about and which film has been relegated to the dustbin of cinema history?
Better Call Saul: 53 nominations; 0 wins. The only sensible conclusion is that The Emmy's have lost all credibility - if they had any to begin with. Rhea Seehorn losing is particularly galling.
The Bear is great and deservedly cleaned up at the Emmys. Apparently Beef, which also won a lot, is also very good (I plan to watch it soon). I don't get the love for Succession. The bits of it I've seen leave me with zero desire to see more of it.
From what I’ve heard all three shows also got Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards. Like WAB said, it sounds like a Hollywood circle jerk.
The Bear definitely got Golden Globes. I don't disagree with the judges. It's a really good show and deserves all the accolades it gets. I've said before, but my sous chef future son-in-law says the show is the best depiction of the life that he's ever seen.
I have questions. 1) what does SIL’s profession lend credibility to the depiction of life? 2) The Bear? Is that the cocain bear movie? 3) What is Beef? And what is Succession?
