Warned for trolling in the Help Desk. I just told you that everyone got their shots in, but you had to keep going.
Here's the thing. You don't set policy. You just hack the board and shit. You're little Nicky-lite. Anc sets policy. And his current policy is trolling in the HD is allowed. So shut the fuck up and get back to discourage trolling and fapping over little girl tv shows.
Sorry, no legal maneuvering. There is no trolling in the Help Desk. People got their shots in earlier, and did their thing, and no warnings were issued. That was discretion. Fun time is now over, and I stated that there was to be no more of it in this thread. You chose to ignore that, and were warned. Let me repeat: There is no trolling in the Help Desk. No flaming in the Help Desk. No spamming in the Help Desk.
I agree that it's best to not make jokes about this stuff in the Help Desk where people might take it seriously, but I wouldn't call this trolling, just a joke
Folks, there's a difference between a perhaps ill considered joke and overtly aggressive flaming. Faceman has now been warned twice, because he ignored the friendly, and he responded to the official warning with more flaming. We want the entirety of Wordforge to have some flexibility, but when a staff member says that things have gotten out of hand, requiring tighter adherence to the rules, it means just that.
So, like plenty of others, I'm really not wild about a board owner messing with people in the Help Desk. But I really have a different question... Why do you suppose it was so easy to get people to believe it? Are we all just incredibly gullible and/or paranoid? Or have administrative actions and attitudes over the past several months created an atmosphere where people are, in fact, starting to legitimately feel like springing a major, unpopular change out of nowhere is plausible?
Pretty much. Only new change since we took the reins is discourage. Only other shitstorm was something that had been done six months prior with not a single person raising an objection.
I'm going to go with neither of those. People like getting outraged, and Ancalagon gave them a good target. That doesn't mean people believed him. No doubt some did, but mostly it was just a good opportunity to get the dander up.
Nm, guess it was all one big joke and I didn't real all the way before I posted. But doesn't it bother anyone else on staff (except Anc, obviously) that no one can tell when Anc's joking or not about completely fucking over the membership? I still meant what I said about the other three owners nutting up, though.
Nope. Shows how truly clueless you are. When you talk about how you want to organize Wordforge, are desperate to show how better of an owner you are then Lanzman and the others by getting new members, always bringing up social media shit, how you used the "Overton window" on the board, how you caused the problem with the "DERP" and yes it was you not us that started that shitball, and how you flat out ignore people whose opinion you don't like, walk away from threads like Discouragement and You when it's clear the majority of people don't like the shit your shoveling, your Owners/admins/mods should be held to a higher standard meanwhile you're trolling in the Help Desk, and of course you're a ginger, then yeah we can easily see you trying to do something as stupid as turning Wordforge into Twitterforge. When you have your own mods/admins thinking you're little troll is real it isn't the posters being gullible and/or paranoid. It's that no one on an instinctive level trusts you to not do something like what you were saying. You need to start looking at yourself and how you relate to the board. It's not the members who are the problem here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overton_window So to change the way things are done he basically lies about his position. He supports false positions in order to move the window where he wants it. Basically a dirty political maneuver to hoodwink others into doing what he wants.
Oh come on, people use "the Overton window" every day. It's not especially nefarious. Just observe yourself next time you negotiate something and you'll see it in action.
Yep. Ridicule Ancalagon for the wonkish rhetoric, but the technique is used by every single person who has ever bargained over any issue whatsoever.
Does it hold things other than cups? Cup-shaped things, such as cupcakes and cupchickens? Or only cups that strictly are cups?
^ It's not a wonder holder, sir. Anyway, if anyone got logged out, sorry about that. It was a side effect of reactivating one of the add-ons for testing.
And you only solidify my point about the paranoia of the 'don't change nothing never brigade'. There has been no social media shit between when we took over and my joke. The only social media shitstorm was that created by Maud (who ran away the day we assuming control anyway) when it came out that the default Xenforo settings allowed a quickshare button. It's similar to when you are on a news site and you have the option of sharing the article on whatever social media you are currently logged in to. Yeah, I and other admins thought it a good idea. Giving people options to share our content is a good thing in our minds. But Maud and others looking to stir up trouble got enough to bitch and complain that we decided to disable the default setting. And... and... and.... and that's it. That's the only 'social media shit' that has ever come up. C'mon, prove me wrong. Post a link. Do it. Don't be a bitch and think you can throw some insults and duck away, be a man, back your shit up. Post a link.
This board operates a Twitter account doesn't it? That links from here and back to here and has presumably been active ever since it started. Isn't that a continuing social media link?
