Personally I didn't like the fact that it indirectly links back to the Twitter accounts of members, which in turn reveals personal info. I therefore disassociated my Twitter account with anything connected to WF, which is a shame.

    Doesn't really do that, though.

gul, he's saying that if we (as members) follow WF, someone could figure out who everyone was by looking at who follows WF.

If we had more followers it would be less of a problem, but still possible.

I still wouldn't want everyone IRL to know who I was here. @BearTM can confirm that I've got some real kneejerky family members on FB, and a good number of my views on Obama are not anything I feel like arguing over on the rare occassions I go home.

You've tried to bring up Facebook and we've got the Twitter thing going. And you're always talking about social media.

You however want to go beyond that. In your quest for change you'd be willing to change the board in every-way. As evidenced by the push back you get anytime you try something most of the members don't want this board to be radically changed. You have zero-respect for the members of this board not wanting even a hint of their personal lives coming in contact with this board.

That 'don't change nothing never brigade' you complain about contains almost the whole damn board at this point. And it's because of you.

You didn't scratch your head in amazement when members fell for your turning Wordforge into some form of long-page Twitter? Or were you too busy laughing at how "smart" you are compared to the members to notice that you brought up social media yet again and the members yet again told you in no uncertain terms that they did not want this board to become a social media thing or be connected to social media?

Change can be a good thing. But you aren't trying to change things for the betterment of the members. You're trying to change things to make yourself look better so you can go around and brag about how you turned Wordforge into some type of powerhouse board. Probably put us on your damn resume; "took board from crappy old owner and small membership and increased membership by a 1000%" :dayton:

Ugh. Kids, a BBS like Wordforge is a social media channel. So drawing a distinction between this and Twitter or Facebook is silly. Only difference between a BBS and Twitter is a BBS usually has moderation and persistance.

Yes but Wordforge is not a social media channel that gives you my name. Or my exact location. Or my exact job. Or any information about family and friends. Wordforge is also not selling my information to make money or studying us in a lab like Facebook does.

If there were ways to keep things like Facebook and Twitter and other social media things from doing that stuff I'd doubt you'd see anyone complaining.

No, it's a social media platform. It's not a channel, that comes in a packet of interlacing other channels on a platform owned by someone else. It doesn't mix these accounts and this user-generated content with everything else on the internet, by other people's rules.

I have nothing against integrating WF with actual social media, but it's no use pretending there isn't a huge difference. If there weren't, there wouldn't be any reason for anyone to do it in the first place.

I've made this comparison before, but once you become active on the Internet - Facebook, Twitter, a BBS, an email group (remember those?), Pinterest, DeviantArt, Instagram, Kickstarter, GoFundMe, Paypal, Amazon, whatever - you're doing the equivalent of standing on a soapbox in the park and pontificating at anyone and everyone around you. Some soapboxes are big, some are small, but they're all out there in public and you leave footprints.
Sorry my children, but the idea of "privacy" kind of died with the birth of the HTTP protocol.

Yes but some footprints are easier to track then others.

With Wordforge we like to walk like Sand People to conceal ourselves. ;)

Frankly Zombie, I don't know why anyone would take your complaints seriously, because you have been crying wolf since the board was owned by Cassandra and you were known as RJHJ.

Frankly idiot formerly known as Nick Walczak I haven't been crying wolf since the board was owned by Cassandra.

The only time I've spoken up is when the admin or mod has done something wrong. Just like a whole lot of other people have spoken up. I spoke up now because again something was wrong. AND I WASN'T ALONE IN THINKING THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. You only have to read the thread to know that Nick. I know it's hard to read when you're on a horse that reaches into the clouds but do take the time to come to ground once in a while and read what others write.

Always hilarious how you and the other high-horse crowd ignores everyone else in order to concentrate on a few and call them shit-stirrers. And you know what the dirty-little secret is? That you and others like you don't want to admit? The shit-stirrers were always right. You mods/admins/owners stepped up to plate at times and tossed some doozies out there and the membership had to call you on your bullshit. Some, like you, couldn't handle the fact that you were in the wrong hence the constant labeling of people as shit-stirrers or trolls.

How much "gasoline" did you and Bear throw on a situation? I seem to recall it being a lot because you two in particular couldn't handle being told you're wrong.

And frankly idiot child, my complaints are taken seriously because when I make them they are serious. I'm not making stupid complaints like Volpone. You and others may not like what I say but any complaint I have is always serious.

No, of course you wouldn't see it that way.
If by something was wrong, you mean you can't tell the difference between jokes and reality, then yeah, something WAS wrong.

I can admit that I was a bit of a shit as a teenager/young adult. I grew out of it. Sadly, you didn't seem to grow out of your martyr complex or your chicken little complex. And for someone who is chiding others for how they "couldn't handle being wrong", your choice of language seems to indicate you have a similar problem; or do you regularly call people idiot children in conversation? Somehow I doubt that.

Of course you think your complaints are serious, but "serious complaint" != legit complaint. Also, I'm 28, you can stop calling me a child, it makes you look...well...childish.

Was I an idiot for falling for it, too? Was tafkats?

If Tamar made similar cracks about lifting the personal info rule when she was in charge, I promise you @Zombie would have given her the same shit, and it would have been equally justified by HER own history.

And it wouldn't have just been me giving her shit. It'd be a lot of other people as well.

No. It wasn't clever subtlety, the humour just wasn't made clear - which it needed to be in view of the joke maker's previous conduct.

Yes it does, as you well know. If I follow the link on here to the WF Twitter page I can view it's public followers, which includes a number of people here, including yourself. Now, as board owner you are entitled to make that conscious decision to reveal such information, but it shouldn't be imposed on people who haven't - which is why I followed and block anyone associated with WF from my Twitter account.
