That is because you had a lot of people in Spain (like the king) who were waiting for Franco to die and already has plans for a better Spain. Also, IIRC Franco himself in his last years wanted to be remembered as being more than a dictator and actually acted somewhat reasonable.
I can read. I'm just trying to remain optimistic that someone over there will take the opportunity to whack the crazy son before he continues his father's madness, and works to bring NK into the 21st Century.
He chose that younger son for a reason. I would expect the successor to flex his new found muscles against SK as a show that the old philosophies still stand. You just know he has been programmed since birth with all the things that the occupy movement is calling for.
And the news footage shows North Koreans weeping hysterically over his death. As contentious and divided as our society gets, I'm glad to have it. At least there'll usually be some percentage of the population that gets things right and, as long as a debate rages, society will probably move in the right direction. But in North Korea, it looks like everyone is completely divorced from the reality of what their "Dear Leader" truly was...
Now is the time to invade the North, while they are busy weeping for their leader they will be like a chicken running around with its head cut off. Go for the jugular while they are in confusion.
NK surely is the weirdest place ever. Saw a documentary on the place a few years back, and everyone, no matter who they were, seemed completely and utterly brainwashed
Are you seriously advocating that? You keep saying ridiculous things, BD. They launched a missile this morning - a ballistic missile most likely capable of carrying a nuke - to show they're still in control. I go back to my earlier comment about you and reading.
Hitch would have been glad to see the greasy little toad gone, a shame he couldn't have hung on just a couple more days.
Even if they're not they will pretend to be on camera because it's off to the "reeducation camp" if they don't say the right thing.
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_..._words/2010/02/a_nation_of_racist_dwarfs.html An article he wrote a couple of years back. Not sure I understand his final comment though.
"I am weeping with joy! Let's raid his kitchen so the rest of us in North Korea can eat something better than a wish-sandwich and a a ricochet biscuit!" "Dibs on the Lucky Charms and Twinkies!"
One thing I realized....within a few short decades every NK who is able to remember a "free" non-Communist/non- brainwashed country will be dead. :santa_sad: You will have 100 percent of NK with no idea of what a full belly and a free mind really mean. :santa_sad: Not to be all anti-religion here, but now would be a good time for God to show himself and liberate the innocent and punish the wicked and all that. Maybe he's got a full plate. :santa_rolleyes:
The son is supposedly even more erratic and crazy than the father. The son supposedly was behind the shelling of that South Korean island last year because he wanted to prove he could handle the military. He might have also ordered the torpedoing of that South Korean naval ship.
North Korea is fucking tragic. Look at South Korea. That's a super advanced alien world compared with the impoverished North. It's mind boggling how different the two countries are in terms of wealth. The North has frequent, daily power cuts and the people have to cook leaves because they have chronic food shortages. While the South basks in wealth, technology, political freedom and democracy. If ever a commie needs to be told to shut their mouth when spouting the virtues of communism just point them to North Korea. I'm heartbroken for the N Koreans, knowing they'll never get their hands on a Samsung phone (running Android baby, Ice Cream Sandwich is nice this time of the year) when the firm that makes them is so fucking close by!
I'm doubtful on that. Keep in mind this country's been a communist shithole for six decades. The only one who remember democracy or any kind of freedom are in walkers or graves. A lot of those who escape to SK are appalled by the idea of low wages for menial work, or that people can say offensive things without punishment. It's like a nationwide case of Stockholm's syndrome. That said, a lot of the NK youth manage to get stuff from the outside and a few of them are wising up. Still, I see change coming slowly to that part of the world--if Kim-Jong Spawn was to get assasinated, who would become the leader? And again, after six decades of this shit, who's to say another dictatorship dynasty wouldn't crop up?
Anna, you and Oldfella kinda miss the point that that part of Korea has sucked for a century or more... No one there has ever seen democracy
