What conclusions? That the bombing took place on April 15th, which happened to be Patriot's Day in the city where the American Revolution essentially began?

Multiple media outlets are coming out with 'federal sources confirm' now. Looks like its a fact. Whether this is the right guy is in question, but if it turns out he was the one actually depositing the bombs he's at least an accomplice.

CNN is backtracking on its earlier report that an arrest has been made and a suspect has been identified. They're now saying law enforcement officials are denying an arrest has been made.

The official Boston PD Twitter account says there has been no arrest.

4Chan's detective work was circling every brown-skinned person who had a a black backpack and zooming in on the butts of girls wearing yoga pants.

LA Times is reporting the videos point to two suspects.

Twittee is afire with retractions, no arrest has been made.

Looks like a case of one media group getting it wrong followed by multiple others printing the original as if they were independently verified.

First the NY Post reporting 10-20 dead and that a Saudi national had been arrested, and now CNN taking "video footage of suspect" to mean LEOs had arrested a suspect. Fuck the 24-hour news cycle and their lack of journalistic integrity.

And people wonder why I don't trust the news media.

And considering 4Chan doesn't have to follow the same protocols that LEO's do in order to get a conviction, it's essentially meaningless.

What we need to distrust is the immediacy of the 24-hour news cycle, which feeds off the Microwave Generation's need to have everything RIGHT NOW.

There are some jobs that crowd sourcing can have large benefits when its applied.

But I agree, this certainly doesn't seem one of them.

Indeed, it may lead to negative impacts in the lives of people that were in the crowd that have now been identified on the interwebz as 'persons of interest' when they've already been cleared by law enforcement.

I believe crowd sourcing criminal investigations is pretty much vigilantism. We've seen time and time again that a person doesn't actually have to be guilty for their lives to be ruined.
