There be spoilers here. . . . .. . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I liked this episode. For some strange reason I thought we still had three episodes to go. It was a very fast hour. Poor Tigh. That man can't catch a break. Adama is starting to piss me off with his high and mighty act. Did he seriously think Lee knew what happened to Ellen when Lee wasn't even on the planet when it happened? One thing that pissed me off was next weeks teaser. Sure I know the spoilers but come on that was stupid.
Isn't it fascinating, though, that although he was that furious at Lee, Bill still used his idea about the fuel ship jumping away from the fleet?
Bill's not that stupid. It was a good idea. Oh and I like the punches thrown. And this shows something I just thought of: Head Baltar knew something that he couldn't have known. That means for sure that Head Baltar and Head Six are not the imangination of Baltar and Six.
That's pretty much confirmed for me, too, about Head Baltar and Six. Those are conscious entities manipulating the two of them.
Tory and Anders definitely exchanged a look. And what's with everyone being completely bitchy since the break? Even Roslin's getting in on the action. It's pretty amazing she threatened to fire Tory for one outburst. Admittedly the girl's falling apart but after a year of serving as Roslin's aide and putting her neck on the line for the resistance you'd think the president would show a little loyalty.
I loved the ep, I thought that it'd be a bit blah after reading the spoilers but IMO it played on the screen much better than it read on a page. Will they be going back to that "dying leader will find the path to Earth" prophecy now that Roslin's cancer has returned? I liked how badly the music was screwing with Tigh and the others, it wasn't just some background annoyance, it's something that was really rattling them.
Good one. Funny how it reflects the real world in so many parts. How often have we heard that 'some people' don't even deserve a trial but should be killed without one right on this board? It's a sign of degeneration, and the fleet is definitely degenerating. Like real world terrorists, the Cylons are watching with glee while a society kills itself over panic. As for Tigh ... he may be Bill's friend but then, let's be honest here: who would keep him around as a leader? The man was drinking on the bridge fer chrissakes! Michael Hogan is born for the role tho. One more incredible performance. He and the lawyer guy really stood out.
I took that as Anders being the kamala hook-up for Roslyn. I haven't read any spoilers, though, so it may have more significance than that.
There is one episode left in the season so quit your whinging. It's been in the background for a while but this is the first episode that actually focused on it.
Splosions, splosions, phwew, phwew!!! I jest, but I also can't understand how people can be frustrated by a plotline that's not only well done, but integral to the theme of the show.
The execution has been decent, but I still think this show should be a series of 4-hour TV movies, and Baltar's trial, from first mention to last, should have taken up maybe an hour. They're trying to stretch the story out to fill up an hour every week of the season, and the result is belaboring shit like this and the goddamned Starbuck melodrama WAY longer than they should.
Starbuck was drawn out...but that was cause love quadrangles have no place on a show like BSG. The trial, though? That serves as an allegorical look at our own society, in a great many ways. So attention should be paid to it as such. Though I also strongly disagree with the 4-hour TV movies idea. The point of episodic television like this is to delve into characterization more deeply than movies or miniseries can. If you take that away, then BSG really is just mindless explosions with talking heads.
I call that a false dichotomy. It doesn't have to be mindless to belabor this tedious shit just a little bit less. Some of it is needed to fill out a multi-dimensional plot, but the plot still needs to move the fuck along.
what would we cut? As we've seen in the "bonus scenes", a lot of meaty character interaction already gets put on the chopping block. I'd hate to see what goes next, like one of the scenes between Lee and Lampkin, for instance. Those scenes are crucial because Lampkin's character highlights the changes Lee is going through, and serves as a catalyst to bring about those changes. Were we to cut them, we'd cut about 40% of what makes the trial interesting. I'm just not sure what you qualify as tedious or essential.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: some of the BSG fans act like a kid who's pissed off at Santa Claus because they have to wait until Christmas to find out what he brought them. I think BSG is great and the story is very well executed. No TV show has ever kept me wondering WTF is going to happen next and where is the plot going like NuBSG has. I think it was a great episode.
Yup... Even with the spoilers, I can tell this is yet another time where I'm be antsy waiting for the next season.
Its nearly a bloody year 'till next season 4-6 months i can handle..... 10 is too much for my poor impatient brain
Perhaps some fans are spoiled. That doesn't mean criticisms are less true. If we were just talking about an episode or two that would be one thing but this has been going on since season 2. There's been a real lack of answers or progress. A lot of the main characters have even become unlikable. I'd say Heroes trumps BSG even at its height.
I've read the spoilers and I'm not particularly happy with the direction they're going, but I'll give it a chance and see what they come up with. I just hope that I haven't been wasting my time for the first three seasons. I've been trying to convince my wife to watch the DVDs from the beginning with me, but if the writers are not very, very careful about what I've heard that they're going to be doing, I'm afraid that I will be too embarrassed to get her into it only to be as disappointed as I might become in the end. Credulity is in danger of being stretched to the breaking point for me.
