    Thank God for my laptop.

I've been sitting on my heiny at the airport since arriving here this morning, on standby. I've written about a dozen pages and still going except for occasional diet coke breaks, lunch, and the occasional pass through WF.

Should have another sizable chunk done by the end of the week, I hope. We'll see how the schedule goes. :soholy:

Well, the good news is that I got a lot of writing done on the road this week, usually on long sits between flights. Even got some done on the airline home today, for as long as my laptop battery lasted.

The bad news is that it all needs to be edited before I put it up, plus I'm not really at a good break point yet. And I only have four days off before I have to go do my six month recurrent training in the simulator. Hopefully I'll get another installment out sometime this week. We'll see how things go. But the work is progressing!

Okay, here's another chunk. This may be the last bit you guys get before it's finished- I see the light at the end of the tunnel, and publishing another interim chunk might sort of spoil the finish. So enjoy this bit- it may be the last for a month or so until its all finito. (Or it may not...we'll see how it plays out...) ;)

EDIT- File failed to upload. I'll try it again.

Well, started a trip today, so things are getting back to normal. Training (instructing) for a couple days and then out on the road for the rest. Hopefully I'll have some time to get some writing done.

Then when I get home next week, I'm bach'n it because the wife will have the kids at her mom's place in MI. So my goal is to get Buck all finished up over the next two weeks, Odin willing.

Banged out 12 pages and a good chunk of action tonite. The story is drawing to its conclusion. Basically there is only the final epic battle to write, and then the wrap up. I'm thinking that with luck, I may have it finished before the end of the week.

Then, I intend to go back to page one and do one last re-edit through the final document, and put a couple finishing flourishes on it. I'll post the finished product as four PDF files, each containing one part except for the last one, which will have Parts IV and V, the latter being pretty short.

The light at the end of the tunnel is getting pretty bright. Can't believe I've been working on this since March!!

    IT'S DONE!!

One final edit, and you'll have it. No later than next Monday at the very latest, maybe sooner depending on how busy the rest of the week is. I've been pretty much sitting on my butt the last two days, thanks to the 4th.

So, should I dump the previous incarnations that you've posted and just wait for the final finished product?

That depends on if you've read them or not. If not, dump them, yeah. We're not talking about MAJOR changes or anything like that- merely some wordsmithing, correcting typos (although I never catch 100% of those), and substituting a word or phrase here and there plus minor additions/subtractions. By minor I mean on the order of sentences and such.

But I've gone back and added a title page to part I, a dedication, and added a song lyric blurb at the top. So definitely ditch Part I in lieu of what's coming. As for the rest...yeah, ditch it and wait for the finished deal. :P

Well, shit, if you'd ever write in an ugly, overweight one then maybe that wouldn't happen so much, eh? :finger:

Do we go back into this list to find the parts that are done or will you give us the files as an attachment later on?

No, I'm going to remove all the old files, and in a subsequent post you will find all relevant files attached and together. I've only got about 50 pages left to review and it'll be done- probably tonite, or by tomorrow afternoon at the absolute latest. I've been on a roll with it and I want it to be done- I've already reviewed and edited each section as I finished it, and this is sort of the 'final go-through', as it were. I find I'm not changing much this time, mostly just catching typos.

When I post them, the files will be: "Parts I and II", "Part III", "Parts IV and V". Three files total. Each one is roughly 100 pages or so, give or take. They'll be in PDF format.

Oh, and just so nobody is confused, I changed one thing throughout the entire deal: I dropped the 'Defense Directorate' label for Earth's military and replaced it with the term 'Terran Defense Force', or TDF for short.
