Here's a good source of info about the various fragmentation ranges of 20", 16", and 14.5" AR barrels.

Eh, heavy is relative. I'm pretty sure it's lighter than my SAW with all it's shit. And I'm just not a huge fan of 5.56mm.

According to the specs on the first two websites I came across, my SOCOM II (loaded) is within a few ounces of being the same weight as your SAW (w/30 round magazine). 5lbs lighter if you're using the 100 round box.

But, I hear you on the 5.56mm cartridge. It's not my favorite by a long shot, but it's great for my line of work, where I have to worry about over penetration.

Try a 200 round nutsack. :marathon:

When it comes to penetration, there's no such thing as too big.

    Remember, I'm talking over penetration.

If you're in an apartment/duplex/whatever in Baghdad and you shoot a bad guy, the bullet goes through him, through the sheet rock wall, and kills someone in the next room, it's an unfortunate accident.

If it happens to me in the U.S., on the job or not, I go to jail for murder.

Ermmm.... Depends on what round you're using.

    What round are you using?

An M-855 penetrates ahelluvalot more than your run of the mill military .308..

I was sure to stay far, far away from the M-855 when I helped write the policy.

We use Federal TRU 55gr BTHP's.

Does anyone know anything about Anvil Arms? About the only possible problem I see is that they use a chrome / molly barrel instead of an all chrome one.
