There is, and always has been, lots of personal profit to be had in being the member of a marginalized minority group who's willing to tell the more conservative members of the majority what they want to hear.

How come all these assholes who pretend to care about fairness in sports don't go after Michal Phelps? He's an actual certified X-Men style mutant, and those mutations unquestionably helped him dominate his sport. Why aren't these anti-transgender assholes calling for him to be stripped of his medals and banned from competing because of his genetic advantages?

Hint: Because it was never about fairness in sports.

Governor Jenner makes some good points.

It's nice how lived experience starts to matter right at the moment when we locate the one person out of 1,000 who says what we want to hear. The other 999 are just ... insufficiently objective, I guess?

On that note, some actual polling data would be great.

On the other hand, Jenner has been upheld as a trans hero for years. Her opinion carries weight.

She's going to peddle half-truths in order to curry favor with the conservative base, and she'll gladly be used as a token transgender person to deflect from the criticism that what she's doing hurts transgender people all over the US. She is a very wealthy woman whose life experience is not going to be remotely average of any transgender person. She won't represent us at all, and will do more harm than good. She would be a detriment to transgender rights.

Are there any transmen that lead in their sports field? I know this sounds like a loaded question but it’s not, I’ve tried searching but all I can find are examples of transmen talking about taking part in male divisions rather than how successful they are.

Could you not already do that (in theory) for non-team sports? ie compare results in athletics, swimming etc just by the competitors weight and height?
