    Well, well, well...

Grabagun just shipped the Five-Seven 30 rounders.

I don't want to jinx it but I like how things are going.

Grabagun's gone silent. I think that's it for them.

But I did find a place that's still taking orders for California and ordered the extra Glock 21 magazines I wanted!

Aaaand again I spoke too soon. Grabagun just shipped the remainder of my first order, including the Glock 21 mags I just bought backups for 15 minutes ago. I could cancel the later order, but I think I'll just deal with having extras. :diacanu:

So, G17, G20, and G21 are now covered as well. And I got a couple of more 92FS magazines, too.

The only thing Grabagun hasn't shipped are the 20 round Five-Seven mags from the second order. I'm covered if they don't, but, at this point, I think they will.

5 minutes to go until I bid sweet freedom adieu...

There were some more things I could've picked up, but I think I'm more than adequately covered now. I toyed with getting some AK magazines and a 30 round Mini-14 magazine, but I've got plenty of the former and don't really need the latter for anything. I also passed on a 60 round AR drum magazine (I did get a 40-round PMAG just for fun and because f**k you, California).

    So, that's it.

    Beretta order arrived...

    2019-04-05_22.16.09.jpg

Nifty flush-fitting 17 round magazine for my M9A1. In my day, Beretta 92s only held 15 in flush mags. Me likee; I got several.

    2019-04-05_22.17.08.jpg

Probably not super-practical, but I got a 30 round magazine just for kicks.

I also got several 20 round mags that don't stick out too much.

Well, it's still grossly Californicated, but the new magazine evils it up nicely...

Now you know what I deal with launching full-house .44 Magnums out of my 629 Mountain Gun's 4" barrel.

As for the Glock talk, I'll be carrying a .357 too today. It'll just be my trusty 3" Model 65. You know, a real .357. :nyer: :bergman:

Now that I've got a bunch of 33 round Glock magazines, I'm thinking the Ruger PC Carbine might be an interesting direction to take...

Is it odd that my first reaction seeing that picture is that there's no way on earth that, that 1.25" dress belt holds that cross-draw holster and sidearm in place all day? He has to be constantly pulling up his pants all day every day.

Cool, now you just need to cut that crap off the back of the pistol grip and give it that chainsaw attachment. ;)

I've got a real-deal AR (and a bullet-buttoned one) that are grandfathered in by the AW laws, but I don't like to take them out to shoot since California creates a minefield of potential criminality around them. I got this one just to take to the range and to teach some friends to shoot with.

When I bail on California, that ridiculous fin-grip will be excised forthwith.

At least as gangsta as a pudgy white 50-year-old techbro from the suburbs can be.

To riff on Lex Luthor from the original Superman...

"Now, call me foolish, call me irresponsible, it occurs to me that a Ruger PC9 would be a handy, inexpensive carbine, especially if one were to possess 33 round Glock magazines..."

    PSX_20190420_153605.jpg

But where would I find such magazines?

So, that's a long gun for June in the pipeline. Because the combination of home repairs, car repairs, and March Magazine Madness meant deferring April's purchases, May's guns (my birthday guns!) will be the Sig P229 and the Marlin 1894 previously mentioned.

Handgun for June will undoubtedly be a Glock (19, 21, 22 or 23).

Then the Gun-of-the-Month Club goes on sabbatical while I save for this year's vacation.

400 grain hardcast bullet at 1800 feet per second? 2878 ft-lbs?

Probably a bit on the, uh, "stout" side.

Glock 19 (in OD green!) now has a nice, warm forever home.

    PSX_20190619_114241.jpg

When I bought my first Glock waaaay back ('91 or so), I got the full-size 17 (and later the 20). I didn't see the point of the smaller Glocks; couldn't carry them, and they had less capacity.

But I'm starting to see why the 19 is so popular. It really is just about the right size: not any bigger than what is really needed. The size trade-off with capacity seems worthwhile; for most practical CCW purposes, 15 shots is really not much of a diminishment from 17.

Picked up the Marlin carbine as well. But now GotM is going on vacation...literally. I hope to pick back up later this year.

Well, the Gun-of-the-Month hiatus is, uh, going on hiatus.

I just won an online auction for a new Sig P232, a gun I've loved but which Sig no longer makes (as of last year, I think).

    Twas not cheap. :(

I enjoy guns that have a connection to movies. The Sig P232 is the gun Jennifer Lopez's character gets as a gift from her father (Dennis Farina) in Out of Sight.

It's definitely not a leading edge gun--Sig's own P238 (which I have) is a much more compact and concealable .380--but I think it's very classy looking. I shot one a few years back and liked it a lot.

The guy at the shop said I got a pretty good deal, despite paying considerably above the original retail price.

Bud's has been running the same price on them for at least a year now, so I ordered one as an early birthday present to myself. Not only did it arrive two days early, but the place that did the transfer only charges veterans $10. They'll be my transfer place of choice from now on.

There are those who rag on the M9 because it displaced their beloved 1911 as the military's sidearm. But it really is an excellent gun, and it surpasses the 1911 in just about every definable way. Modern ammo/understanding of terminal ballistics even dispenses with the caliber argument.

Glad yours got a new home.

$548 at Bud’s. You can find them for less elsewhere, but Bud’s has free shipping so it’s a push.
