Frontline's pics remind me the low-lying river swampy valley areas we have a few of around here....cypress trees say "watch out for gators" to me! We are right on the edge of the Fall Line (piedmont meets the coastal plain) so any slow areas moving rivers or oxbow lakes on the coastal plain side of that line has cypress trees and gators.
My daughter went camping with her friend + their family a few miles away. It got pretty cold and the daddy-long legs that were attracted to the tent started entangling themselves in a ball to stay warm. She said it looked creepy as hell! Once My father-in-law + his hunting buddies set up their tent on a huge tarantula nesting area while Elk Hunting in Arizona. This was in October/November and the tarantulas were huddled together underground for warmth. When the heat from the tent made them active, they started invading the tent. It was dark and pitch-black, and everyone felt "bugs" crawling on them, so of course they just swatted them off. In the morning they saw a few dead tarantulas (from being swatted too hard I guess) and they realized where they had set up their tent! :frustratedno:
Frontline, I've always been amazed at the clear, clear water in central Florida. There are some beautiful canoe/camping spots. Looks like you found a great one!
