And I think you're a little too well off to be making smug statements like that. Trade in the Beemer for a Yugo and get back to us on the cost of happiness.

Her hatred and irrationality and anger have corroded her soul.

Money can't buy happiness, but it can sustain it for a while.

Money is the barometer of a society's virtue.

Money is the means by which men trade in mutual consent. The only alternative is theft and thuggery.

Run for your life from any man who tells you that money is evil. He actually believes an inanimate object can corrupt his soul. What he does not admit is his soul is already corrupt.

Money is the root of all good.

Dunno what I'd do with millions or billions.

Probably get bored, and piss it away on some compulsive project like this.

Then take Storm and the Flows on a tour of it in a flying car, and tell them how bored I was without a challenge.

There'd be grimaces of disgust at my feigned artist's ennui, and then I'd smirk.

Hmm, nice, that's going in the book.

Because everybody, and I do mean everybody, wants more of it, but some people have started believing the lies they tell themselves because their moral or ethical dogma tells them that the love of money and the slightest bit of selfishness is evil.

In short. Greed is good. It works. :bergman:

I think it isn't the aquisition of money so much as the attitude that I have money, therefore I am happy. I have more money than you, therefore I am better than you. I like the Johnny Cash song Satisfied Mind:

I don't want to be on my deathbed and say, "I sure wish I had made more money. That would have made me a better person."

Because he was some punk, emotionally damaged douche at 20 something still carrying around mommy and daddy issues?

Money isn't what motivates me and certainly wouldn't do anything to make me either happier or more miserable but it would go a long way to making me more comfortable. You could see all the beautiful sights and sample all the exquisite tastes but without your family or someone special to enjoy them with it would seem empty.

Socioeconomic elites promote the idea that money is the root of all evil to anesthesize the masses to their financialy inferior status. "We don't want anyone taking away *our* money, so we'll convince john q. public that desiring money is actually morally bad."

I don't think that money's bad, just that neither my self-worth or my level of happiness are tied to my bank balance.
