And new research shows that cell phones do too... http://www.independent.co.uk/life-s...us-than-smoking-or-asbestos-802602.html?r=RSS Of course, when the initial WHO studies came out, we weren't a cell phone culture, and there weren't large groups of people using them extensively for an hour or more each day. Now there are. So if these guys are right we don't need to pass laws against idiots driving while on the cell phone constantly. Nature will take care of that for us - if we are just patient.
Somehow, the thought of these idiots with cellphones growing out of their ears dying from brain cancer doesn't bother me as much as it probably should.
The world death rate (from all combined causes) still remains at 100 percent. Obama will change this, hopefully. BTW Lou Gehrig died of Lou Gehrig's disease...he should have saw that coming!
For some reason, I don't know if I want to believe that article or not. Every month there's a new article somewhere saying "cell phones cause cancer!" and for every one of those, there's two or three that say "cell phones are safe to use!"
I'll bet ya money that the resulst of some of these studies are funded by certain groups who have a vested interest in seeing cell phone use continue to rise...
It used to be coffee. One week coffee caused cancer, the next week it didn't. Before that it was water. [Emily Litella]"It's always something."[/]
If cell phones are really that bad then we'll all die from staring at computer and television monitors all day long, long before the cell phones get us. I don't know why it is that this crap gets continually recycled, but it's really one of the more absurdly luddite pieces of drek to circulate into the public consciousness. It ranks with the nonsensical beliefs and "studies" about vaccines causing autism. This is about as likely to be true as a story claiming that doctors are killing their patients by the millions by refusing to refer them for homeopathic care.
Well, let's hope that having your head up your ass doesn't cause cancer, otherwise Liet is going to be developing some really large tumors in really uncomfortable places! The guy who conducted the study has impressive credentials: http://www.brain-aneurysm.com/about.html The rest of his CV is on his site. He may be wrong, but he's not a quack.
The scientists who said DDT had to be banned had impressive CV's. As did the scientists who told us the various artificial sweeteners cause cancer. And so on.
Ah, here's another one this year: http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2008-02/afot-cpl021408.php Personally, I'm not planning on throwing away my cell, but then I never used it that much anyway. If there is a link people who spend hours on the cell should be cognizant of it, just like smokers were aware that their actions could damage them.
