I wonder if her long cocaine habit in the 1980s damaged her heart in any way? Sad to see her go at the relatively young age of 60. Just 11 years my senior. She wasn't that good of an actress but I've heard she was one great screenwriter.
Aaaaaaand I need to find a way to get to the good theater in Nashvegas which sells hard liquor when this comes out. Gonna be real hard to watch her scenes now. Her daughter is supposed to have a larger role in future films, but I can't imagine how hard it would be for her to do those scenes.
An even better story from that link is Carrie Fisher's responses to the Slave Leia action figure "controversy": http://io9.gizmodo.com/carrie-fisher-has-the-best-response-to-the-slave-leia-m-1746298590 And here's her priceless response to the same question from the L.A. Times: Fuck, she was funny.
I find some of the emojis and responses to your post surprising. She was a drug abuser and your question was quite legitimate and I agree with it.
I'm just really curious as to the origin of Carrie Fisher's heart problem. I've read about her mother and father and neither of them seems to have had any heart problems. Her mother is still alive in her early 80s and her father lived to his early 80s as well.
Cocaine can be very damaging to the heart muscle. Other drugs are just as damaging. Also she was flying. If she didn't do leg exercises, get up and walk, she could have developed a clot in the leg that then broke free, traveled to lung and or heart and tied.
I bet as soon as she went into the hospital Disney probably started making phone calls. I'm thinking there will be rewrites and Billy Lord might back out, but she's got a pretty sweet gig with Scream Queens.
Carrie Fisher's mother Debbie Reynolds rushed to the hospital. Possible stroke. More information not yet available.
Sooo.... I was on CNN, clicked on the article about Carrie Fisher. As I scrolled down, this happened on the site. Yeah.... that's, I don't what to call, but it's sort of funny in a macabre sort of way.
Deleted scene of Carrie from TFA. Honestly, I think that she gave her best performance in the film in that clip. When I saw the film, she just seemed to be hanging out and having fun. This scene shows her personality, and there's more than a bit of the original Princess Leia in her last line.
