Stable in ICU means vital signs aren't bouncing all over the place, the nurses aren't having to give medication intravenously to keep the vital signs stable. Ditto for respiratory status. And yes, even on a vent things can go screwy.
Considering what I've heard, she might be sedated in ICU on the vent while her body heals, and/or determine what else the doctors need to do before they take her off the vent and get her to an IMCU.
