I really figured you were talking about a church shooting that I wasn't aware of, but my point is this...26 people were killed and another 20 wounded in the church shooting you just referenced. Since then, Texas changed the law to make it easier for people to be armed in church. Fast forward to the next church shooting, only 2 victims were killed and none injured that I'm aware of. I think it's much more likely that they are feeling vindicated as opposed to having "played themselves".

On a side note, it looks a little odd to see someone from California lecturing Texans about their mass shooting problem when CA has had almost twice as many since 2013...or is there some nuance I'm missing?

At least we've made attempts at curbing our gun violence. That we border Nevada and Mexico cants be helped, but white people can let their kids use scooters in what used to be the worst places in Oakland and Richmond these days.

Also, this is a straight count. Considering we have 40 million people, of course that number won't be zero.

Well, you got me there. I gave texass way too much credit. Of all people I should know better than to do that sort of thing with texass. I still think insurance will come along and make things harder with their rules (not laws), but it seems that you can get around common sense safety as long as you pray.

So texass thinks it is bad for a woman to have an abortion, but it is ok to give the local church volunteers guns and call them security. I am just going to say you win and I was wrong and walk away before my forehead implodes.

Masaad Ayoob did an analysis in the latest issue of American Handgunner. That fella, Richard White, 67, was a regular member of the security team. He usually wore his weapon just behind the hip under a loose shirt. That day was chilly, so he was also wearing a jacket. For reasons we'll never know, he moved his holster to the small of his back that day. So on seeing the threat, he had to fumble thru an extra layer of clothing to an unpracticed draw. From the shotgun coming out to the shotgun firing was three seconds. He'd just gotten his gun out when he was shot. The first round in the shotgun was a rifled slug. It went right thru White's chest, into a wall, through an I-beam, and bounced off another wall. The second victim, Deacon Anton Wallace, was unarmed, and the second round in the shotgun was buckshot. At a tad over 5 seconds after the goblin pulled the shotgun out, Jack Wilson shot him in the head with a .357 SIG firing Hornady Critical Duty ammo from a range of at least 45 feet. He wasn't able to shoot sooner because he was looking for a clear shot through the crowd. Despite the brain-shot, the goblin's finger spasmed and a third shotgun round went up into the ceiling.

Not to mention the fact that Texas has a much longer border with Mexico than Cali does so it's a pretty weak excuse to be making.
