Not me. Each abstaination is based solely on the beliefs of the abstainer, regardless of affiliation. Of course I've yet to hear any Democrat/liberal here say that they will abstain from voting for either Democratic nominee.

Find me one, we'll quiz him on his reasons, and maybe then that observation can have some relevance! :soma:

Not all. The Democrats are the ones that seem to hate the Republicans with a fiery passion, and require that a Democrat win the election lest all be lost.

Obama is probably the single most electable Democrat to run for office since Bill Clinton. He seems to be the "no-brainer candidate" for the Democrats, yet half of them are fucking around with Hillary Clinton, and dividing the party. Ergo, letting McCain win would be "stupid" of the Democrats.

However, if Obama wins over McCain, the Republicans are not "stupid" to allow that to happen, as they don't have someone splitting the party ranks down the middle.

Perhaps the Republicans in general, but not the Republican candidate.

McCain's favorables are rather higher among Democrats than Obama or Clinton fare among Republicans.

The Republican nominee actually serves the Democrats, giving them a palatable fallback candidate if their preferred one in their own party fails.

If it were Huckabee or Romney, the number of Democrats defecting if they don't get their way would be much lower. Probably only Giuliani would fareremotely as well as McCain is in this situation.

    Why?

It doesn't matter who wins or loses.

Why? Because you don't get to pick your ideal candidate?

Because prognostications are interesting in and of themselves, and because prognostications based on absolutes are even more interesting.

I don't seem to remember making any kind of testable prediction, moreso stating opinion, which by it's very nature is intangible.

No, it doesn't matter who wins or loses because I don't seem to remember making any kind of testable prediction, moreso stating opinion, which by it's very nature is intangible.

That may be, but I won't vote for him, and neither will many other otherwise reliable GOP voters.

If the Democrats scrapped the stupid super delegate idea and did a winner take all idea than the primary would be pretty much over for the Democrats now as well.

Not all states for the Republicans is a winner take all if I'm recalling correctly.

Courtesy of course from Democrats and so called Independents who in open primaries crossed party lines and voted for McCain essentially giving him the lead.

The degree to which Democratic primary turnout has exceeded Republican means that there was at best a very limited amount of that.

Unless you're conceding one of two things...either Democrats vastly outnumber Republicans in this country, or Republicans sat home en masse, and are to blame for not helping to choose a more palatable candidate for themselves, not independents.

Is it a Republican base, or just an outpost?
