That doesn't explain women; they keep on cumming.

    Wait, let me rephrase...

RNC is planning an attack ad run against Comey in the run-up to his book launch, because of course they fucking would:

So, the Comey book is out - got a copy on order but UK doesn't get it till next week, by which time I'm sure WikiLeaks will have provided a PDF copy to "hurt" Comey's sales like good little arslikhan (how much did Fire & Fury net Wolff? He still sold over 1.7 million copies in the US alone despite Assange's Assmonkeys).

As with all things Trump it's the side stories that tell the tale as to why he should never have been allowed near power - the narcissism. Told of the Russian election meddling, his only question was "but you said it didn't actually influence the result, right?" i.e. "but I really won on my own merit, huh?". Note, the FBI/CIA guys telling him this had not investigated whether the Russian meddling DID affect the outcome, only that it existed.

Not, "fuck, this is terrible that Russia is manipulating our election process, how do we stop it next time?". Just "I can still tell people I beat Hillary anyway?". This is like ignoring the attempt on the Skripals' lives because they survived it.

Crooks & Liars (for those who've bashed me for linking them in the past) are indeed being very partisan on this and taking the angle that Trump's nonchalance was actually a sign he knew damn well Russia had helped him and was just worried he'd been found out and casting for a positive spin to put on things. I'm not willing to go that far - let's see what Mueller turns up - but I do think it's damn dangerous to have a POTUS who will ignore a major attempt to subvert US democracy as long as he can spin it into "well, it didn't really affect things and I'd have won anyway" because his ego needs him to be a winner.

So here's very likely the worst President in US history, colluding with a hostile dictator abroad, supporting Nazis at home, who would rule by nepotism if his rule wasn't mired by chaos...

...and his enemies are busy with sleazy book deals?

Can't help but hope the lot of them just get drowned together.

Interesting they would. I'd have gathered that the party would have given up on Trump by now. Seems like the nutjobs are still in command.

Not all of them. What’s sleazy about Comey’s book deal?

In at least one section already quoted in the media, he discusses in detail what he thinks of the idea of a golden shower tape, and explains that his own wife would know that her husband would never be caught in something like that. That's snickering, and digging in mud. Now if the President can be blackmailed, that's a reason for concern and needs to be discussed. If he is an adulterer, perhaps that is relevant to voters' judgement of his morality, but even that is incredibly harmless in any right-thinking person's mind compared to the worst things we know Trump did and is doing. It's like pointing out that a rapist also is a bad cook. Discussing his sexual fetishes in detail is just plain icky and profits no-one except the commercial interests of the author and his publisher and any TV station that gets a headline out of it.

True, but there's a deeper implication to that conversation - Trump thinks the FBI is there to cover up his shit or make false allegations go away, even if they involve something this fucking trivial.

Speaks again to Trump's "mob boss" mentality and desire that the people under him be "fixers" whose only job is to get Trump's stuff done or make sure his shit don't stink.

Yes, and all of that could be said (a) publicly outside of a lucrative book deal, and (b) without taking several pages to say that Comey finds Trump's sex life icky.

Of course the raciest bits are going to get highlighted first. That doesn’t seem to be what the preponderance of the book is about. I’m not even sure how much is about Trump, that’s just what people are most interested in.
