https://youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=YSNb6NPoCy0 If these State Security Fuckos are this bold with all the cameras around, how abusive were they before?
@Paladin for the win. Cop is to be fired. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/08/3...d-only-kill-black-people-to-be-fired.amp.html
He's done then. If an Agency wants you gone, they'll let you resign and then you can go somewhere else and be someone else's problem. But, to actually get fired? His career is done. No one else will touch him. Start looking for private security jobs now.
I think there's also more to that, for reasons I've discussed before and that I'm too exhausted to do yet again. Suffice it to say the area I live in has the largest population of native San Diego blacks in the county and it's safe enough in most areas for me to walk my overgrown purse accessory 16 pound chiweenie dogs night without getting harassed or mugged.
Most cops that actually kill black guys are justified in doing so. And I actually feel a bit badly for this cop. He didn't say what he said out of malevolence. But it got national attention and what should've been a fairly minor offense has turned into (as @Elwood said) a career ender. That's the dark side of PC culture: institutions punish people much more harshly than the offense warrants in order to project the PC appearance.
You know I thought he was innocent at first but then a thought came to me. Why did this become so big? There is sometimes thing else there because police have covered up so much worse behind the blue line. This would have been really easy to pass by and get rid of. This guy has some other huge reason to be fired. It may be that he is a complete racist ass, or it may be something else. Something caused them to use this to get rid of him. Cops are normally forgiving of other cops because they are all cops. There is more to this than that tape.
Why is San Diego so safe? What are we doing that can be brought to other areas? Why are black people here not committing "black on black crime" (or as i refer to it, "crime") at such skyrocketing rates? The blsck folks in California in general probably have the least spending power because of expenses compared with MS or FL or VA but yet not even the worst parts of Oakland are anywhere near as bad as Detroit. These are the questions to ask.
Of course you do. Biggest plot twist ever. This isn't an issue of PC. It's an issue of professionalism. I can't get away with cussing out customers that piss me off and joke about giving certain people higher financing rates and still be employed at a car dealership. As others have said, this fool is absolutely tone deaf to the climate around him if he thought no one would report him. Dumb fuck can't even be subtle about his bigotry. But you are right about one thing: the heightened spotlight is forcing a lot of cops off the beat. Ones that, like this asshole, would have otherwise "resigned" and then get rehired somewhere else a year later. Like Dayton and teaching. If he hadn't enough self preservation to keep his mouth shut , he shouldn't be the cross guard at the Helen Keller Deaf-Blind Institute, much less an officer of the law carrying a weapon. And I'd say the same thing to a black officer working the beat in the Appalachia mountains making jokes about lynching white meth heads to even the score. It's unacceptable. Period.
Cop: "We Only Kill Black People" I guess I don't see a cause for outrage. The left has been trying to successfully establish this false narrative for years. The idea that cops seek out and kill black people. Now the left is suddenly offended to learn that their narrative has become so commonplace that cops can use it on the streets to self-deprecate and lighten the mood? It was a sensitive gesture for this man to relate to this woman concerning her own present fears. I hope his free-speech is protected and he can continue his distinguished career of public service.
@Paladin feels bad for a cop getting fired for making a bad joke about killing people, but has no sympathy for those getting fired for refusing service to a cop. Hmmm I wonder why he feels differently... Hmmmmm Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
This officer was a lieutenant and had 28 years in the department. He sent a email to everyone in the county stating that he's retiring. So he beat them to the punch as they haven't even completed the investigation yet. There's no telling if there will be an affect on his firing. I suspect that both sides will come to a conclusion to let him just retire as while what he said was unbelievably stupid, it doesn't rise to the level where you could yank his pension.
I did not know San Diego was one of our safest cities, but now that you mention it you don't hear about too much craziness from them. That said WHAT IS SAN DIEGO DOING RIGHT? and why aren't we as a nation studying the living shit out of the place to see how to replicate their success?
What happened to "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me"? Is 2017 less mature than a seven year old?
It is a good question to which I don't really have a good or complete answer to. My guess is much of it comes down to local culture. Until about 20 years ago you had a very strong military presence with lots of military and former military here along with a lot of retirees in general. Also the housing cost thing really only become a real issue in the last 25 years because in 1994 you could buy a brand new single family home in Scripps Ranch for $187,000 while homes in older parts of town were only $100,000. My parents bought a brand new home in Mira Mesa in 1980 for $29,000, in 1988 they bought pre-owned home in Scripps for $170,000 and it was considered fairly high end. Supply and demand has certainly gotten out of wack in recent decades as prices have skyrocketed. In North Park (where I am living now) you could barely give away the old 1920's era craftsmen homes in the 1980's and 1990's now many sell for between $600,000 to $800,000 while prices of new homes in north county routinely are in the $800,000 to $1.5 million range. The police force used to be relatively large and well compensated though starting in the 90's big pebsion increases meant the city had to cut tge number of cops (or at least not grow as quickly) even as the population boomed. Now, we are probably under policed when you compare the number of cops per 100,000 residents. The only thing I can come up with is the local culture is very laid back and people tend to be mellow while historically there was a relative abundance of decent paying jobs at least compared to other urban areas. We also never really had much of a gun culture. It is worth noting that even though our violent crime rate is the lowest of any big city in America we are still almost twice as high as many Canadian cities so good is relative.
I'm actually not offended. I get what the cop was trying to do. Still, it was a wildly inappropriate thing to say, and as long as he's wearing a uniform everything he says and does reflects on the department he works for. There's nothing about free speech that prevents anyone from getting fired for embarrassing their employer.
I did notice on serious stuff the local cops would come down on offenders like a ton of bricks but on minor or even not so minor stuff cops will normally just speak to people and give tgem a warning. It has also always been a tourist town so the "have a nice day" culture is pretty deeply engrained as well as the being friendly to other people thing. It sounds weird but I think that does effect people's attitudes and so folks end up adopting a more relaxed and happy outlook. It is just a guess though.
